It has been suggested that if the forum ever gets fixed in our lifetimes (yeah, and I am a Chinese Jet Pilot!!! ) that we should go back to straight demotions and guestings rather than issue strikes.
What do you think? Give folks an extra opportunity to do a Hway 3:16 on 'em?
Bear in mind that strikes are for minor offenses, and felonious behavior gets dealt with harshly regardless.

I believe strikes suck. If they do something that bad, demote/ban them. NO STRIKES!

No, what they did was wrong. They get three chances, one strike is
basically a warning so whats the point of taking them away? They
screwed up, it's their fault.
But, if they have had it for a long while, and prove to be, eh, better, then i guess it's ok.

Keep the strikes for the newer members. Be a bit more harsh on the ones that have been here long enough to know better.

You mean take away the strikes for new members and don't for the older ones who should know the rules?
What about if people make new usernames?

Two strikes instead of three(sucks for some of you guys. Like I care,
you probably aren't helping anyone...). They should stay for two
months. However, it should be the members job to send a PM, not make a
thread, to a mod politely requesting the strikes be wiped. Also, create
a thread in the mods forum and post every strike you give out, with a
date.
That's my 14 cents and a Canadian penny.
Upon closer inspection, this thread is about wiping current strikes
once the forum is fixed; I say no. remove them whenever a mod feels
that they can control themselves.

Well, I was under the impression that the strike system was established
to punish forumers who break the rules and guest them
accordingly. Seeing as the mods catch a 4th of what really
happens here, it seems pointless to keep it.
I say sctrach it.

BTW, remaining strikes would have to
run their course, but no more would be issue if the system were dropped
... those with strikes would merely be dealt with much more harshly.

Well, I got my strike for a stupid filter dodge, and yeah, it was stupid.
I don't see why it can't be taken away though, it happened when i was a little nub and i didn't know any better. So, yes, if the forum get fixed ot whatever, i do think we should wipe the strikes clean.

I have no clue.
Some people think that the are above the forum rules and dont pay any attention to them strikes or not. Then when they reach 3 of them and are guested, They create another name and get the second name immediately guested. Then they create a new name and finally calm down.
I just wish people would have more respect for others and respect the guidelines set by a forum that provides them with a free service.

I wouldnt mind people working off strikes. I personally dont like the 2 month and a strike is gone idea. I see people that have strikes over two months old still committing the same infractions that earned them strikes in the first place.
This does not apply to all that have strikes. Dont think I am reffering to you just because you a have earned a strike. ;-)

I think the strikes are a pretty good system, cause
getting guested for accedently slipping back into the
type of language you use with your friends for one
post, getting you guested would suck. If it's a big
offense, no strikes, just kick their butt out, but it it's an
un-educated filter dodge or something, let them
know what they did wrong, and maybe give them a
strike.

Keep the strike system(or just do the warning PM/thread in mods section thing someone else suggested) for the one-starers. Just demote the multi-strarred users. Thats a good way to keep it fair, but also actually use the star system for what its for.
Personally, and completely off the wall, I think that there should be a level between standard and guest for probation/warning purposes, with the user restricted to one post every five minutes, and posting only allowed in new players area. Everyone starts off as a standard, and anyone causing too much trouble is warned, then demoted to the new group. Any reg getting too big of a head could do a week's "detention" as it were.
Just a thought.

heres what i think - change it to 2 strikes, you're gone. those who already have 2 strikes, let them be, but there next strike kick 'em out. that eliminates unfairness because they've made 2 mistakes already and then a new rule kicks them out is unfair i think. so, 2 strikes instead of 3.

I think we should do something like if they have a big offensive thing they do wrong, we guest or ban them. If they just curse once I believe they sould get a strike. The punishment sould be basked apon the crime. You shouldn't get guested for having a cuss word slip out. I believe it should be up to the mods to decide the punishment.

I personally think strikes are a good way to warn forumers of their
behavior before serious action is taken. It gives them a chance
to clean up their act. It happened to me, and I've changed.
Give forumers a chance.

You should search for someone else in their city to try and meet them at a field and bonus ball them with there marker. Splat - that one eliminates you, splat - that ones for the other forumers, splat - and one to grow on.
Unfortunetly, most of them probably don't even play.

Unless moderator wants to, I dont think they should ever Pm the members. The rules are all clearly posted. Most of the time the members try to act like they didnt know the rules or pretend they didnt do anything wrong. If you dont know the rules, go read them. They are located in both the new players forum, and the T&O. One on them is title is clearly marked with the words, Please Read this BEFORE posting!!!!!!!
Why should a mod waste his/her time sending PMs because someone did not read or consider what they wrote before firing of their 60 posts per second?
It is also amazing to see some member complain about getting strikes, having them for more then 2 months in their title but continue to break the rules or commit the same offense that earned them the strike originally.
Also some people think that they are so above the rules, that they break them and then complain both on the forum and elsewhere about getting caught. If you cant be respectful enough to follow the guidelines set forth here, I personally dont respect you, or welcome you here.
Grow up.
If your reading this post and feel that it applies to you, maybe I am talking about you or the many others that do it.
I feel bad and ashamed that the moderators have to act like babysitters to those that havent been taught the basic life skill of respect.

I got both of mine from one post and I was quoting Red Vs Blue. I said French Connection United Kingdom and I guess Enos thought it was bad. Can they be taken away now..it's been 2 months. Also, I think they should stay. They keep the older members in order.

Hades: I'm with you on that one. All these people are asking for their
strikes to go away. All they want is a "clean slate" so they won't have
to worry about having more than one strike if they do it again, which
is more than likely.
Gold members having strikes is completely something that should not
happen in the first place. They SHOULD know the rules after being here,
4ish years? I mean after all they have seen, them getting strikes
should atleast get them a demotion, or something else.
Alot of reg's have been demoted also, why should they have another
chance? By the exception of some, which have "proved" themselves, i
don't think they should get a second chance.
If you really care about not having your strikes, prove yourself worthy
of getting them removed. None of this 2 month and they will get taken
away crap. You earned your strike somehow or another, so earn the right
for it to be taken away.
It doesn't really matter if Enos was in a bad mood when he gave it to
you, he wouldn't go around just giving out random strikes. He had to
have a reason, and you know it. So get over it and prove yourself
worthy.

You were bragging about commiting a crime, showed evidence you committed a crime, and also provided a like to aid others in commiting the same crime.
Clearly all that is not allowed here. Your lucky more strikes were not given.

Okay, if you think I was avoiding the question, I will put it back for all to see.
You asked me if I have ever downloaded a song.
It is completely irrelevant. Other than answering this question I have never bragged or not bragged about it on a public forum when most anyone in the world can see it. Also some songs can be legally downloaded with the author's permission.
You also realise that the MPAA is offering rewards to people that tattle on those with stolen movies. Do you really think Tippmann would love getting involved in the lawsuits it would bring.

It's not about admitting it to people on a forum its about the fact that everyone downloads music. I don't care about admitting it on a forum. Since everyone does it, who cares. everyone has done something illegal in their lives.
It's like the pot calling the kettle black.

Heyya!
My opinion?
No strikes. The old ways were better where common sense prevailed. If someone uses the a, h, or s bombs, let it slide unless it is profuse. If somebody spams a bit, like, a double post, don't ban know.
That's just my opinion.
Good luck!

I say for gold members, they get no warnings. They get a PM
saying why they were demoted the exact location that the offense can be
found. For just members, I think one warning/strike or whatever
you want to call it. Oh, and a gold member who was demoted to
member gets no warning. His demotion was his warning. Just
my opinion.

One little question....
Why don't I have even 1 strike?
I suggested horribly dangerous ideas, got a few topics locked, swore my glasses off a few times, made fun of loads of people, and threatened to dump more than my fair share of forumers (8 and a half) in a shallow grave ...
People get grumpy sometimes, I say give them one strike then guest.
p.s. Shoot trolls in the knees...start with the left, and work your way over

No...sometimes people mess up without even knowing they did anything
wrong. Sometimes they simply forget a rule. You can't demote someone
just because a rule slipped their mind or they are having a horrible
life. 2 strikes is as strict as it should get, I think.
