Ok... I've been seriously thinking about a high-end gun lately... however
I'm not looking to spend more than $1000.
I like the feel of the Shockers, they are very light and very small. But then I
saw the System X NME LE markers on County's site. These markers look
sick. If you haven't seen them yet,
http://www.countypaintball.com/product_description.asp?item=3689 -
go here .
So I'm basically looking for suggestions on other high end markers to look
into. I want something fast, has eye's, and runs low pressure, for under $1k.
Any suggestions?

I don't really like NME's... Syssy X stuff has always seemed
cheap to me, and I personally think the NME's are really ugly, but, I
have never shot one, so I can't help you there. They seem to get good
reviews, so i say go for it.
Or, try a borg, you can't ignore their secksiness.

I just started using an NME myself a couple weeks ago. I haven't used it long enough to vouch for reliability, but out of the box it's been a great marker.
My velocity has been jumping a bit (+/- 10fps) but it's new and the reg hasn't had time to break in yet. Hopefully that's all it is. For the most part the velocity is pretty steady, but it does jump a bit from time to time. Could also be caused by bad paint. That last batch of paint I used was less than perfect.
From what I know right know, it looks like System X did a really good job with this one.

Rumor has it that System X may be taking over a large existing project. Some Tippmann owners may have to learn to like System X in the near future.
Aren't the System X cockers the same thing as the old Dye cockers?
The NME is cool looking. Never heardof it.

The NME is a timmy clone apparently. So if you like timmies, I'm
sure you will enjoy an NME. According to a PGI review:
- the bolt "travels 20% less distance than the bolt in an Intimidator which allows for quicker cycle time."
- ram adjuster, stock (unlike most timmies)
- double bearing magnetic trigger, stock (unlike stock timmies)
- efficiency is around 1600 shots per 68/45 fill
- their experience was +/-4 consistency
- Avalance will be shooting these (I don't care, but maybe you do)

If you want a high end marker (please don't say gun... that just plain out hurts my feelings) under $1000, then the NME would be a good choice. For $700 dollars cheaper, it's not quite high end, but shoots like one, the Smart Parts Ion will save you all that money for a load of paintballs. Also, excluding the tax, my favorite, the Proto Matrix, is also a good choice. Basically any high end marker works like one (unless theres a defect), but those are my personnel choices.

Actually, System X states that it runs at 60psi in their description of the
marker. Its not like slettec just made that up. Whether its true or not... ask
someone that's used one...
I think the milling on the NME LE is awesome. Definately looks better than
the older NME models.
Warwingsaw, yup, you caught me sayin "gun". I usually always try to be PC
and say "marker". The ION seems like it won't stand up to the test of time,
since SP basically took every shortcut possible inorder to keep prices as low
as possible. I have considered buying one however, I want to see how long
other ppl's ION's seem to last. If nothing else tho, it seems like a nice
backup marker.

This 60psi claim is the LPR pressure to cycle the ram. This is
not the same as the operating pressure. Anyhow, 60psi isn't
unheard of for the LPR, as many current guns hover around there.

I just checked paintballgear.com. They are selling the old NME's not the
NME LE's (limited edition). If I get one soon and use this months coupons
for County it brings the price down to 899 anyway.

$949 is the MAP price for the NME LE so we're not allowed to sell it any cheaper. As stated above, PBG is still listing the old versions.
I used my NME again in a tournament over the weekend, still loving it. No problems and I haven't done anything except take it out of the box, adjust the reg to chrono legal and go play.

As long as your not incompetent when it comes to guns, yea i said it, I
suggest a shocker, then you can get a nerve/tadao/dynasty board and a
new barrell as well, plus maybe another nicety(sp?)

they have vision shockers for 700 dollars, thats 150 dollars cheaper than everyone else.

Yeah, I'm starting to lean towards the Shocker's now. Super light and small
markers. Plus a few hundered cheaper.
The Bob Long Timmies are all over 1k, unless I find an old used one.

Yeah, NME LE's are great guns. So are Proto 'trixes, which are in the $750 area new now. I'd see which one you like the feel of more.
Shockers aren't bad guns either, especially with vision. However, the private label(Dynasty, Warped Sports "Dark Shocker", etc) seem to be even better, though they run in the $1000 range as well.
Personally, I'd say a Dragon Intimidator if that's your price range(maybe used).

I'm not much of a fan of shockers since SP still continues to use reflective eye technology in them.
After quickly surfing around, I would suggest a Proto (I think
they are ugly, but that's just my opinion) if you were to buy new.

You can use the coupon on anything you want. I was just saying that we can't list the markers for less than MAP. The coupon does help get around that a little.
If you need a mask and at least one other item, you'd also get BYOP discount on the order along with the coupon.
