Ok, I'm really bored, and I've got two hours until work. So I give you this...

Summer tactics, according to me. Sort of. I stopped thinking half way through.

The Basics:

Gear: BUG SPRAY, DAMN IT!!! Also, a washcloth, water, and stuff like that. Nothing sucks more than havign to walk back to the house to grab something you forgot.

Clothing:
-It gets really warm out this time of year. You will also note the presence of bugs. If you are daring, I strongly suggest shorts. Otherwise, go with some light camo pants.
-For a shirt, you can pick up a camo t-shirt pretty much anywhere. Jerseys just plain suck in the summer.
-Also, a headband/hat may be a good idea, to keep the sweat out of your eyes. Because taking your mask off in-game to wipe sweat is a bad idea.
-As for shoes, go with some light hiking boots, or cross trainers. Stuff along those lines. Climbing over rocks and skidding down hills in skate shoes just doesn't work.
-Remember, nobody worth playing with cares what your clothes look like.

Part dos - movement:

-Slow and steady wins the race. In the winter, people stick out like a sore thumb. However, now that there are leaves on the trees, take a minute and observe all around you before you dash through that clearing.
-Things tend to be damp this time of year. Take that into account. In the fall/early spring, everythign cracks and creaks. Try to step on rocks, dirt, and wet leaves. Avoid anything that will make your opponent wonder, "What the heck was that?"

Third stanza:

http://tippmann.com/players/forum/wwf77a/forum_posts.asp?TID=116415&PN=117 - Read this.

I'm bored of typing, so now I'll go back to being bored...not typing.

Add your ideas, thoughts, comments, whatever.

Drink lots of water. If you don't have to pee, consider yourself dehydrated. Go often.

If you play with those in Ghille, who would prefer to stay still, under a blanket, a lot of greens are near the ground this time of year. Look for brush that has the wrong type of leaves/color in it. If you know what the vegitation looks like, Ghille that isn't updated with local veg will stick out upon inspection.

More importantly, the rainy season is just starting up. Don't forget the camo poncho and to clean/relube your markers, Rain-X masks. If you play near wetlands excpect to get the feet wet, loose shoes.

Old thread, but I feel compelled to give this warning. Don't get any DEET based bug repellant on anything plastic. Unless it's some special plastic made to hold DEET (like the little spray bottles it comes in), DEET can destroy or seriously damage plastic. Also some synthetic materials. Most important it to not get it on your mask, especially the lens, and stuff like your hopper.

Woodsball or not I would rather wear a good Paintball jersey (like the ones at Animal Paintball) They breathe allot better than a t-shirt and have much better bounce.

Shorts are fine, but not really needed. Just wear your cammo's or even paintball pants, once again the PB paints will allow your skin to breathe much better than anything made from cotton.

I live in the middle of florida and know a lil about "summer" play. Bring plenty of water and ice, gatoraid is better. No soda's or beer, well maybee a few beers after your done playing wont hurt. I useally just pick up a gallon of water and stick in a cooler w/ice.

Ya shouldnt need bug spray unless your playing at dusk or dawn or its been raining allot.

If you feel dizzy, stop and get liquids and find a cool place to relax for awhile until you feel better. Feeling light headed is one of the first signs of heat stroke.

DEET is the active ingrediant in repellent, it interferes with an insect's ability to detect co2, the way an insect finds its prey.

lets not forget about the  bounce factor in summer (it goes down) because they paint expands in all the hibbie jibby, but hits wont hurt as much with the paint actually breaking, making shorts and t shirts ideal for wearing.

In Florida we know insects :)

Remember that DEET is to be sprayed on your clothing, and not your skin. It will make your skin feel warm, and you will feel a little crazy when it poisons you.

Deep Woods Off in the big green can works well. Spray it at the openenings to your clothing. Don't forget the reptiles are more active in the hotter weather... look out for snakes and gators while crawling through brush.

Shorts and t-Shirts are a very bad idea in woods-ball. We had a guy play nin shorts and at the end of the day had a very bad case of poison ivy. A good pair of camos will breath very well. Our old Canadian camo if very light, plus help prevent bug bites and poison ivy.

I always keep my sleeves down and pants tucked into a pair of combat boots. I also wear gloves.

Trick for bug spray is spray your clothing before you put it on. Put on your face and neck before you put on your mask. Let it dry up before putting on your mask. If you get bug spray on your lense you will wreck it.
