Is it what it says?  Do you have to get the tank retested upon the date on the bottle or what?  I hope you dont just toss the bottle.

My buddy went to get a co2 tank filled and they wouldnt do it because the date had expired on the bottle, but they didnt say anything about testing it.

You shouldn't hydro test CO2 bottles, it isn't worth is.

Hydro testing is when a certified airsmith checks the bottle to make sure it doesn't leak, by putting it in water.
The date on the bottle is the last time it was hydro'd, so at have ever many years the bottle needs to be hydro'd(3 or 5 year periods)

That remembers me, I have a out of hydro tank sitting here. I really should send it out soon

Why not just buy a new one for like 25 bucks...its nice to have a new one after like 5 years or whatever

For co2 its usualy more expensive to re-hydro then to buy a new one. If a Co2 tank is out of date, just buy a new one. Co2 tanks have a five year hydro.

HPA tanks are a differant story though. re-hydroing usualy isnt too cheap, but cheaper than buying a new tank. Stee HPA tanks (or any tank with "3HT" marked on it) must be retested every three years. Fiber wrapped are usualy five yr.

Hydrostatic testing is a process where the tank is pressurized to its max fill pressure with water instead of air, in a tank full of water. Then the water that is diplaced is measure to certain standards. Also, signes of wear are checked for.

My tank needs re-hydro this month! Im upgrading to a new one though.
