Posted By: Jefangel
Subject: my AUG - now with video page 3
Date Posted: 10 June 2005 at 12:03am
I originally did the AUG about 2 years ago...but dropped it because it was too difficult to maintain...but now that the E-98 pro is out...I decided to bring it back to life again!

SO here it is, my E-98 AUG....and before anyone points it out....YES, I put a double trigger on it, what can I say...I made this to be a close-quarters, fast-firing marker...so I lightened the trigger-pull (it has a hair trigger) and threw a double trigger on it to fire faster...

You might also notice that the Tank mount is on the top of the marker...When I shoulder it, the tank is on top of my shoulder while the "stock" of the marker rests tight against it...it is actually quite comfortable and this allows me to shoulder it faster (basically, just tip it up onto the shoulder) while maintaining the sights....

BTW, Some friends of mine are making a MOD for the 98 that will look very similar to this...They are calling it the AUM (Army Universal Marker)...it should be up for sale this fall I believe! Their website is currently down...but I am sure they will update as stuff becomes closer to reality
*EDIT* Sorry about that...the image host that I had the pictures on had very limited bandwidth...this one has unlimited...so the pics should be back now. *end edit*

Oh, and since someone will no doubt ask "how do you cock that thing?" I ran linkage from the front cocking on the AUG to actually cock the rear cocking on the E-98...I also moved the battery of the E-98 into the butt-plate, so I can change batteries on the field if necessary.

Oh, and the entire E-98 is INTACT!! I did NO modification to the body of the E-98...The entire system is enclosed...so no chance of getting dirt into my E-98 either!

The forward virtical girp folds forward to become a horizontal grip on the bottom of the barrel...oh and to give you an idea of how much this shortened up my 98...that is a 14 inch barrel on there!

When do you think the B-5 will be ready??  I just picked up a A-5 at D-Day for cheap and I'm interested in something new.

They were also selling the Proteus masks with comm units for $25 a piece.  Would have picked up one for everyone on IC but they were sold out after several minutes.

You mean you don't like the clip period, or you would like it if it was the same color of the rest of the gun??

Honestly that's a clip for an actualy AUG.  Yeah their not that pretty but I'd still give Jef his points for trying to keep it close to the original as possible.

LOL!

      Thanks for the comments guys...

Questions: Yeah, I will get a couple pictures of it with all stuff on it (hopper, tank) to show what it looks like with the additional stuff on...although this coming weekend I will probably play with it remote so pictures from the game will show it remote.

The clip is what an actual AUG looks like...when I play I actually remove the clip to make the marker a little more streamlined when I crawl....so I made the mag removable.

   She is pretty isn't she?

Again thanks for the comments, I will get some action shots and maybe some video after the weekend.

oh, AND Yeah, I was working on the B-5 again tonight...we still look like we are still on schedule for August!

Yeah, we used to be part of the #2 counter-strike clan in the world! (a hint, it was also named "Identity Crisis") about 3/4 of the paintball team used to play on the clan! We used to go to paintball games and people would see the name and go..."hey we played against a counter-strike clan named Identity Crisis....they kicked our butts!" and then they would find out that we were the same people and think we knew how to play paintball because we were good at CS! (at first...it wasn't true...now however it is!)...most of us still use our counter-strike names (mine is Deathangel) We retired from CS almost 3 years ago though (after dropping from #2 to #45...which still wasn't bad!!) We just didn't have time in our lives to devote to CS anymore, so it was tough getting together for the games..etc...and IC in CS was no more...but it lives on in paintball!

here it is!

Now you can see what it looks like shouldered as well as me shooting it fairly fast...this was on sunday towards the end of a 26 hour game...so I was a little tired...but it gives you an idea.

My guess is there a long linkage arm that the trigger pushes on the link arm travels down the side of the boddy and pushes on the other trigger. Just a guess.

Posted By: Jefangel

Actually it is all electronic...I used an E98 and connected two wires to the two wires behind the switch on the E98's electronics to a brand new switch on the front of the gun...then I mounted the E98 trigger in the front with epoxy so that when I pulled it, it would trigger the new switch therebye triggering the switch on the E98.

Thus..it has an incredibly light trigger pull since I was able to position the new switch within a 16th of an inch of the switch...I may move it a little though...it is dangerous where it is at...I tap the side of the marker and it fires.
