THIS HAS BEEN ANNOYING ME FOR THE PAST YEAR.  My 98 custom wont recock. i dont know why eather but ill give you as much info as i know. my gun started acting up on me about a year ago.  i went to boston paintball  and had it checked out there and said that too much air is blowing by the bolt and no to turn the knob on my remote too much.  That didnt work at all so i brought it back and they oiled it up and said they didnt know what to do.  they sent it to tippmann HQ and had it fixed.  IT WORKS YAY!!!!! but yesterday i went paintballing at Fox 4 paintball in Upton and it still works. YAY!!!!!! so i took it home and took it apart for a rutine oiling and parts check. so i did that and everything was in place.  after i put everything together i took some test shots and it wouldnt recock.  back to square 1.  i talked to my friend online about it and he reccomended changing the spring but if it worked the day before then its probably not a spring problem.  i should also mention that it was very hot that day when i went.  i dont know if that could do anything but im just throwing it out there. PLEEZE HELP ME! ive put $400 into turning this gun into a killing machine and it gets he soo frustrated when i cant do anything.

Email me @ mailto:MIB008@aol.com - MIB008@aol.com if you know what to do PLEEZE HELP ME!!

Are you using CO2 or HPA? I gather that after you re assembled the marker you test fired it with no paint cycling through. Try covering the end of the barrel with a wadded up towel while firing (no paint). Sometimes when there is no paint ball being forced out the barrel there is so much gas going out with no resistance that there is not enough blow back to cock the hammer (rear bolt)

Also check the "O" ring on the hammer to make sure it is not cracked or nicked. If gas is getting past it on blowback then not enough is pushing the bolt. Replace the "O" ring and oil it. Also make sure the two screws that hold the power valve in place on the right side of the receiver are not missing and tight.

I agree on power tub bolts, snug not over tight.make sure every thing is oiled right especially power tube.no kinks in drive spring.is the seer spring stock or just worn out?have enough n2 or co2?

In computer troubleshooting, when someone does something inside their computer case, and the machine stops working, usually they did something wrong that they didnt realize.

Im guessing its the same here, if the gun was working coming back from Tippmann. First off, you are not removing your valve bolts from the right side of the gun in order to maintain it, correct? Secondly, your drive spring pin (the long metal rod) is in place?

Is it difficult to cock the gun by hand? Sometimes people overtighten the reciever bolts, and it causes too much friction on the rear bolt, causing it not to recock.

i remember my 98c not recocking one game... it was just me and this other guy and we were right in front of each other... worst possible time for it to screw up. yeah i got lit up bad.

mine stopped after i was shooting it sideways watching the balls curve madly at people (flatline). i took the tank off, put it back on and it worked again.

im not sure if this will help but sometimes my marker won't recock because my CO2 isn't screwed in all the way or the right way(my friend almost cross threaded the threads when he put my CO2 tank in)

Ive heard of having too much oil, it turns into sludge and slows down the bolt so that it doesnt recock.
