I've never shot an Ion, but A-5's are truely amazing guns.

I've never had broken paint in my rig... never chopped... never had to squeegy my flatty... love my A5... use good paint... shoot all day... no worries... no batteries... made in the USA... switch out my flatty for stock barrel and shoot cheap paint with no breaks or chops... Now my old Spyder could break and chop like a SOB... ------------- Xs. | I have both markers and the ION is by far a better marker, for both woods and Speed ball. I am a tippmann man all the way, but the A-5 can't even compete with the Ion. I think that anyone who Votes for the A5 probably has never played with and ION. The only thing that you should think about when making your decsion is that the ion should be ran on Compressed air, and the tank can be expensive. |

I have been having problems with the cyclone, but overall I would never
sell mine to buy an ION. Dont do it You wont See Me!! Save your money. Now that the IOn has a metal body kit for it that makes it much easier to clean and remove the bolt allot more might be buying it which in turn is starting a big price war. You can now get a Proto Matrix for around $650. 4 months ago that was well over $900. Tippmanns need to come down in price I think to compete with the ION. I've seen both in action and the ION seems to be just as durable the A-5. Sorry but that's my opinion and like butt holes everyone has one. -------------

Better marker for the money? Not that I can think of, to be perfectly honest, not for a new marker.
The ICD BKO has some ... issues from what I hear, and I don't have much faith in where Tippmann is going, so there you have it. The Ion is hot, and with the trick upgrades that are coming out of the woodwork, it's only going to get better. ------------- If I flee, kill me If I die, avenge me |

In the woods the ION is great to lay down paint to fend off defenders
so you can send in your forward assault and take over enemy positions.
So as far as playing the support role the ION is perfect. Nothing beats the Tippmanns when it comes to accuracy in the woods. Especially with a flatline. -------------

Flatline equipped 98. Period. Either the RT version, or if the field
doesn't allow it, the E-Bolted 98.
Ions would be a good woods gun, as good a marker as any non-Flatlined marker can be, but if I get one, it's gonna be for speed/hyperball. I understand that there are some scenarion-based upgrades for the Ion in the works, so I am anxious to see them. If you do take an Ion into the woods though, stay out of the water!! YWSM, save up your money. Buy a real, high end gun. Trust me, it will be worth it. The ion seems like a decent gun. I shoot one a couple of times. The first one, the trigger sucked, PERIOD. The second, it randomly started to leak, but i did get it up to 15 BPS. The 3rd one, chopped like mad. Im pretty sure it wasn't barrel breaks, but it had a halo one it, so maybe it was curshing balls before they were even fired. |

They shouldn't, thats the point of break beam eyes. It doesn't matter what color the paint is. Only reflective eyes care about the color. |

Pssht. If i could get the money back from what i have put into my a-5 I could have made a nice ION. Its would work good in the woods but better in airball/hyperball.
THe ion can lay down paint. Its a pretty good gun if you can deal with it being sp. |

personally, I would save up an extra 100$ and pick up a used matrix. Its so much better than an ion. Or, pick up a used angel. IR3s are going for 300-400. First gen. speeds are going for 400-450. |
