I cleaned my mask with Windex a couple days ago and I've heard a rumour
that products like Windex can make your mask weaker. Is this really
true?

I've used it and it has had no effect on me. If I stop posting for over a month, you'll know that was the problem and I'm dead. EDIT- I just did that sloganizer thing Rusty Nails, and I put in spam. I found it funny that I got "Spam online." |

It's the ammonia in the windex that will weaken the lense. Ammonia is a very strong chemical. Every mask manufacturer recommends just a mild dish soap and water to clean the mask & lense. -------------

I use windex all the time on my goggles and i ahve a V-force mask and
nothing has ever happened to me and i sumhow allways get nailed in hte
face and im still around so i think its just a rumor.

It is true that the ammonia in Widex can weaken plexi-glass and composites. Dump ou the Windex and put dish soap and water in the bottle. -------------

Get some baby shampoo and warm water. Not only does it clean, but it also anti-fogs. You want to make sure you get the paint off your gogs, cause the paint will cause the same weakening problem. |

Arent mask lenses have to be rated for up to 400fps? So a lil windex didnt hurt it, just dont use it again. If you have a better goggle system just replace the lens if it makes ya feel better. I normally just rince it off with water and dry it with a towel. -------------

Damn, now i have to buy a new lense. I clean my lense with windex many times, and it still holds up. Hell, it got shot from 20 ft away last time i played. |

yea it reccomended that you use a 50/50 mix of water and johnsons baby shampoo to clean and anti-fog your mask ------------- 98% of ion owners think ions are better than any high end gun. | Paintball mask lenses are made of Lexan, and there are chemicals in cleaners like Windex that can break down the plastic over time. All I ever use to clean my lenses is warm water, it cleans all the paint and dirt off my lenses, and it won't hurt them. Just run the whole mask under the kitchen sink at full pressure, and this should get your mask clean. For all those who clean your lenses with Windex, I'd recommend you stop it. It probably wouldn't hurt to replace the lense either...they're only about $20 for a new lense. |
