I have a question for someone. What would be a better barrel to get, a Flatline or a Smart Parts barrel? I played with my friends A-5 w/ a Smart Parts All-American and I lit everyone up. Im reading many bad things about the Flatline and im just not sure.

First of all, its not the barrek that makes you like everyone up. actually, the barrel may be the last piece of gear that effects weather or no tyou can hit somebody.

You need your paint size to barrel matched correctly then shooting consistant. meaning that with each shot your FPS is +- 3. achieve this by adding a remote or x-chamber (i presonally use a remote) an RVA and a palmer Stabalizer.

As far as the flatline goes, you may read many bad things about it, but what your reading most likely came from people who either didn't know how to use it correctly, or don't want to bother using it correctly.

Flatlines are a little touchy. you have to use good paint that fits correctly, the the cheapo stuff anymore. you have to keep to clean, like new out of the box clean. you have to have you FPS in the 260-275 range. and you have to make sure its installed correctly.

If you can do all those things and make it second nature just like wearing a mask, then the flatline will serve you good. People who said it shoots crooked, not far, or something else, didn't follow the steps above.

some people just don't like it and thats fine. but it will shoot farther with pertty good accuracy. not 175 ft within a 1 foot box range, but within a 5 foot box. good enough for cover fire. its does shoot far, flat and strait.

Those are the FACTS

I LOVE the All-American barrel..., the flatline is good for woodsballers who want that extra range, but I prefer the accuracy of my All-American

personally i boycot smart parts. so thats why i won't buy one. don't care how good they are. If they wan't to run questionable buisness practices then they won't have my support. smart parts has been hurting the sport we all love and i will not fund their campain.

Normally I play in the woods but 1 out of 5 times im on speedball. I think im going to buy a All-American because they sound better and I liked it when I played with my friends.

Well if you play speedball every once in a while the all-american is definitly the best choice. Can't have a flatline in speedball now can we? You could always get a 10" Lapco Bigshot. It works very well for both woodsball and speedball.

a flatline is okay in speedball if you just stand in one spot and keep firing from that spot from the get go and do your best to fling paint all the way acrossed the field to get some break kills. a really good buddy of mine does that all the time, and its funny watching him sidestep around all the incoming paint just clunking away with that flatline. he can sure keep heads down

not saying its the best for that job, but you can manage

wow, where do i start?  spell check might be a good idea. anyway, you are not going to get +/- 3 fps from co2 in woods ball.  I have done it once [on an indoor, climate-controlled field w/ a max-flo].  It just won't happen.  I own a flatline, have had it for about a year, and it has some serious accuracy issues w/ just about every type of paint you can think of, evil, marbs.  Go AA.  Smart Parts isn't that bad.  they make good equipment, and patents are there for a reason.

I would not get the Flatline for the 98.

But for the A-5 - the Flatline is great.  I have a Freak kit for my A-5, but I haven't used the Freak on the A-5 since I got my Flatline.  I use the Flatline for woodsball and speedball.

Yes, the Freak gives better ball-on-ball accuracy.  But with the Flatline I don't have to adjust for range, which makes aiming easier, which results in better effective accuracy.

Also, with the Flatline you don't have to worry about matching paint.  Much easier to use.

It's mostly matter of preference, though.  There are plenty of reasons to prefer a straight barrel over the Flatline.
