ok, i got a new a-5 2 months ago. i love it, except for one problem, i'm getting about 500 shots with a 20oz co2 tank. i figured maybe an expansion chamber would help, so i know have one on it. this is really pissing me off because i'm still getting about 500 shots off. should i use comp. air? what should i do? any sugjestions would be nice. thanks

It could just be that you're shooting too fast.

It happens to the best of us. To stop this get HPA.

Nitro is HPA....

a 72/3000 tank will get you around 720 shots. Thats the closest to 800 you'll get without buying a tank that gets over 1,000

remember that you need a new system for an a-5 for nirto cause it isnt high pressure out of the box. and if you have a R/T the gun will suck co2 pretty bad between the trigger and the cyclone

I have the same setup- yes it seems like a air hog! But I just figured performance has it's price...  To offset the price of fills ( $5 for a 20 oz. where I live ) I'm going to buy or rent at least a 20 lb co2 tank and pick up a 32* valve setup so we can fill our own at home. I agree some places it seems  I get 1/2 fills? The place I use now I get a really good fill... I asked how they get such a good fill? They put a little co2 in the tank and bleed it out which cools the tank, so when they fill it, it  gets a good fill?

False.

Tippmanns are high pressure right out of the box. That means you can just screw in a preset tank thats around 800-850 psi and it will work fine.

Either your friend is getting a low pressure kit because he wants one or he was tricked into buying something he does not need.

HPA for A-5's is "plug and play" just as YWSM said.

well think about it...

the cyclone on the a5 uses air to cycle thats what the little hose coming out of the side of the gun going into the cyclone is for so all of ur air is nto going for shots because for every shot u are also using air for the cyclone too and when u shoot shot after shot in rapid secession it uses even more air than just shooting slowly will.  my suggestion is just go somewhere where u can get all day air. in my opinion its not enough of a problem to spend the money to get hpa and even with hpa it will still use some of ur air to work the cyclone.  u also might wanna look into a centerfeed upgrade for it. this will take away the  cyclone thus eliminating any cyclone problems and will improve ur bps rate because it has been proven that the fastest method to load balls into the chamber is with vertical feed.

If you are consistently only getting 500 shots from a full 20 oz tank something is wrong with your marker. You should be getting much more.

Have you chrono'd your marker? If you have and its shooting at aprox 280 fps, think about taking it into a proshop...just to have them look it over.

Edit: You might want to replace the o-ring on your tank as well.

^^^^^  What he said.

You might also look into a spring kit or an RVA.  Some Tippmanns come with drive springs that are unnecessarily tight, which will significantly lower efficiency.

But if you have an RT, it might also be a function of fast shooting, in which case nitro is the fix.

Kind of late there pal.  Anyway, I'd say fill your own tanks.  It will get them full, and it's overall cheaper.  You could go with the 72/3000 tank YWSM talked of.  Check out http://www.countypaintball.com - www.countypaintball.com and you'll find one.
