i've seen several 98c with top cocking. I have an idea of drilling and milling out the side oppisite the cocking 'hole' and have the cocking knob come out of both sides of the gun...the cocking rod would need to be a little bigger than the stock, but i think it would look pretty nice, especially on a milsim gun...

check out that pic - it was a little big so i linked it

also, quick question regarding stripped screws - one of mine is stuck in, any recomendations on how to get it out? its a stock tippmann 98c bolt, i was in the process of taking all the screws out to replace them and now one is stripped...:(

yah for me, 100th post...:-D

I know there's a few people on here that could/ would do that. I think it could look kind of cool when you were firing.

Yeah for me, 100th post...:-D

When you say stripped you mean that the Allen wrench no longer grips in the socket head? If that is the problem, clean the head of the screw with a little acetone (fingernail polish remover or a small container from Home Depot) on a "Q" tip. Then take the Allen wrench that is supposed to fit the socket and dab a little JB Weld epoxy on it and into the screw's Allen socket. Push the wrench firmly to the bottom of the socket and brace/prop it in place with blocks or water glasses or what ever you can find and a little tape to hold it in position until full set up. Once the JB Weld is full hard (over night) you should be able to back the screw out.

Another method, buy a 3/16" LEFT HANDED drill bit and using a reversible drill turning counter clock-wise try to drill the the screw out. The bit may bite well enough to back the screw out (drop of oil on the nut side of the screw). Drill into the socket hole until you go through the head of the screw. The balance of the head will pop off when you reach the screw shank. At this point you can take a small drift punch and tap the screw out of the hole...driving it toward the nut side of the receiver. (If you can find one, a left hand bit will help here maybe backing the screw out before you have to drill all the way through the head. Sears sometimes carries left hand bits))

Sears makes a little kit of bit type screw extractors that also turn counter clock-wise. They are aggressive and will really bite into the remnants of the socket hole and back the screw out.

Or, take a drill bit just a little larger than the bolt (new, sharp bit).

That's what I was thinking.  One on the left, right, and on top.
