I'm buying an mp3 player soon and it has come down to the Zen Xtra 30gb and the ipod. Vote on overall quality and please leave comments about important aspects. I don't care that the ipod is 40gb the ZEN is on a hot sale right now on newegg. ------------- I need to find smaller pictures for my profile. |

I heart my creative labs MP3. Never broke it. Dropped it many times, hell, I even landed on it one time.(Im a big guy  ) Easy to use. |

go for the zen, i love creative and i have a zen xtra 40gb the sound quality from the creative labs line is far superior to that from the iPod. you should go for the zen touch 40GB... oh, btw, i am getting the new Zen Vision as soon as it is released...it's the new portable media center. OMG SO 1337!!! -------------

The Zen apparently has a higher quality sound output but to be
completely honest, I've tried a Zen with my Shure E2c and I cannot tell
the difference between it and my Ipod 4g. The Ipod is a thing of beauty. The operation is very intuitive and I find the Zen to really lack polish and the interface on the device and software is rather lame. I also like that the Ipod is the most popular device, therefore supported by many 3rd party companies. As for battery life, my 4g does get the 12 hours they say it does, which I have no complaints about. I think people who have bad batteries don't know how to properly maintain theirs and just overcharge the hell out of it. Ofcourse in the worst situation, a year or two down the road, pick up a 3rd party battery for 30/40 dollars. In conclusion, the Ipod is a nicer product, but if you can get a good price on an old zen touch, and money is an issue, that might be a better choice. -------------

I get about 2 hours on my mini. I'm in decision whether to shell out 50 bucks for a new battery, or go for a new mp3 player.

From what I got from that, you want to know if the Dell mp3 players only work with dell computers? No, they should work with all computers, as it would severly cut down on sales if it was only dell compatable. |

I have a Zen Touch and I love it, although I know you are looking into an Xtra. I don't believe in the whole Ipod thing.
