Ok, i shall first start by saying that i already have a Tippmann A5 with an E-Grip, X-chamber, Remote Line, AA Barrel back and Freak Barrel Tip.

i have been eyeing off a couple of Spyder Victors at my local paintball store, purely because they are the cheapest gun available and dont look too bad. i want to buy 2 of them, mainly for the option of lending them to my friends when we want to go play out in the woods (need a licence to own one here, too much hassle for most) but im also taking a shine to the novelty of having a Spyder in each hand, both running remote lines, with an A5 on my back, with a flatline and scope ready for some long range fighting if need be.

im well aware that a paintball gun in each hand probably wont be able to match my A5 in firepower and will probably hinder my movement, but i think it would be fun, and seeing how 99% of the people i play against are noobs (paintball is still not very big here) i figured it would even the score a little too.

my question is, as a basically secondary gun, meaning one i dont really need to rely on much, what are these things like? am i likely to throw them in the bin after a week from frustration or because they broke? or would they be a decent gun for my purpose?

ill probably put a freak barrel on each one, and a motorised hopper.

and if anybody comments that the weight of them might be too cumbersome, i used to fire my 2002 model shocker with one hand, im not little

You'd be better off with a 98c, but it'll work for a while as for their long-term durability, I don't know.
Scopes=bad
I'd suggest a properly tweaked red dot.

why a red dot? the ball wont shoot with a flat trajectory anyway, so at long range (what i would be using it for) it would be useless, unless i want to know exactly where it WONT hit.

im looking at getting a little 4x scope, mainly for spotting a target at range, not aiming.

:edit: also, the price of dual 98 customs would buy me a second A5 and an E-Grip. remember one of the main attractions to buying these Spyders is they are $75AU each as opposed to $325AU for a 98 and $450AU for an A5

Spyder's aren't very durable, or reliable this is why they are so cheap.
Scopes = tunnel vision = bunkered or long balled from the side.
The red dot properly adjusted is good for mid-range IMO.
I wouldn't recommend dual semi's I'd get two pumps if you want sidearms, or two used 98's from eBay.

but why would you use dual pumps? you need 2 hands to pump each one!

and i thought they were cheap because they were basically a refurbished Icon-X with a warranty

why is the Icon-x better? they are the same gun!

statistically the Spyder would have a higher fail rate, because they are used, but that would go without saying

huh?

im not here to argue, if the spyder is crap, then i probably wont buy it. but i fail to understand your reasoning for favouring the Icon, while slandering the spyder.

i mean, are we talking serious problems here? as in the actual gun itself cracking in half, or are we just talking about broken bolts and valves?

its a cheap gun, so im prepared for some flaws, but all ive seen here and in other places is just opinions and rumors, no facts. i did a search, but i couldnt really find anything directly relating to specific issues that they have, thats all i want to know about.

Just get the Victor. I'm sure it will do just fine if you take care of it. It is your secondary gun anyways.
