I just noticed that my 98c didnt come with a buffer O ring or is the Buffer O ring something you put in the gun yourself.  Does the buffer O ring have any great importance or is it ok for me not to have one.

it is there to give some cushion when the rear bolt slams back to recock itself. should you have it in probably, but the gun will function without it. personally i wouldn't run my gun w\out it in but it's your gun therefore it's up to you. call tippmann up they will probably send you a new one no ?'s asked.

Could i just put a regular tank O-ring for the time being in the spot of the buffer O-ring or would that not work.

It doesnt do much but cushion the rear bolt. But I have seen people having a few problems without it in.

A standard 90 durameter tank o-ring wouldnt be a good replacment. Its much small and isnt rubber so it woulnt give you the same outcome as the buffer.

I looked at my friends buffer O-ring and it is the same size as an O-ring I had on an old paintball barrel. so i took it off the barrel and put it back there looks exactly the same.  Hope it works exactly the same.
