I know all you folks will want to smack me for bringing up this old and
overused topic, but i want to run an idea by you, as this is a project i have
been working on for a while. I'm open for any modifications or
improvements you might have in mind.
-light power pressure washer
-small battery pack
-tub of watered down fingerpaint

working on both a frame for just carrying and a go-cart mount, but it
may prove to be wa-hay too heavy to lug around on your back

Well the paint mix will wreck it after a while.

Overall. It won;t work. Mainly becuase I believe most powerwashers run off motors.

In everyother flamethrower thread, someone has sujested a powerwasher.

Your idea is not new or fresh. Its old and skanky. Just let the idea die.

if youve never used a pressure washer before its not accurate and the water seems to not go further than ten feet.  I would enjoy mowing down people with your contraption

just tried some prototyping junk with it. you're right, it doesn't work, the
paint gummed it up like nothing else. i've scrapped the idea and moved
on to other, more predictable (and working) stuff, like sabot cannons

whamanahey? different sized projectiles? please elaborate.
i was just thinking a cannon that mounts under the gun, and i thought
that's what it was called, but correct me if i am wrong

A sabot is a depleted uranium shell that is fired from a tank..., not the cheapest (or safest) thing you could use for paintball :P

If you wanted to fling globs of paint, get a crappy gun and horrible paint and watch it all chop out the barrel at people

here a pic of the SABOT tank round

The 120mm M829 Armor Piercing, Fin Stabilized, Discarding Sabot-Tracer(APFSDS-T), cartridge is a US developed kinetic energy (KE) armor defeating round. It consists of a fin stabilized subprojectile with a six bladed aluminum fin, a tracer assembly attached to the rear of the fin and a depleted uranium (DU) penetrator with a ballistic tip to reduce drag. The propulsion system uses an obturating case base with combustible wall. This growth potential round features a modern technology high length to diameter (L/D), depleted uranium penetrator, and lightweight sabot. The cartridge weight is 41.1 lbs. The major components of the M829 are:

And thats why not to use a sabot

I had a paintthrower idea as well, so here's my idea.

Hook up a garden hose with a paint tank and a CO2 tank, then, hav an on/off setup and turn it on to shoot paint and turn it off not to shoot, first I have to find out if the hose can contain 1000 psi though....

oooo ur dead if the girl finds u..... ( in your sig mean )

As far as the paint thrower... i dont see you luggung around a tub of paint and a pressure washer around the feeld. the range is SMALL so you would have RUN with it to get close enough to hit anything. while you are running, tripping, and eating dirt, ull be painted up with quite a few balls before you can scream "im hit".ratulate the inventiveness

Most likelly youll ruin the pressure washer too... but i congratulate the inventiveness with in you! (or just brining back old ideas...) i liek to make stuff too... i made a watergun with a backpack water tank that holds 7 liters of water (1 3 liter bottle, and 2 coke bottles)

I SWET I THAUGHT OF IT BEFORE I SAW THE STUFF ON INTERNET! lol and the stuff on the internet is barelly equvilant to ONE coke bottle. i have 3 and a half :D

I got an idea. Get a paintbrush, dip it in mashed up paintballs, and strap it to your waist. You can call it a paintball Bowie knife. Just run up, and 'slash' someone with your 'knife'.

Or just shoot them from 60 feet.

1. u would need liek a car batery to run the thing or a gass engine

2. sprayyign paiint will never outrange a piantball gun. unless u had like a riot hose or something, and that would blow your head off.

3. how long woudl it take u to get shot running around with a go kart frame on your back, along with the added weight of the couple gallons of paint and a battery or engine.

4. the paint woudl just destroy the motor.

just make a grenade launcher. so much simpler and more effiencnt

How people came up with the idea of a paintthrower is beyond me. The very thought of something like that irratates me. Paintballers are losing thier skills by the minute and this idea is just another terrifying reminder of that. If you want to make a device that could wipe out an entire team in the hands of a newborn then go for it. But knock off the forum posts. I'm not bragging about any "skills" I may have, honestly I suck pretty bad. But using a paintthrower to end a barrage of opponents would only make me feel worse. That's my opinion though.

Well heres the design for a paint thrower. And as far as using it to wipe out a barrage of opponents, these are only used at scenarios. And if you do use one of these, your gonna get a suicide squad coming after ya. Obviosly don't use the flammable version of this. It's a very simple a feesable contraption.

Klaus as a good Idea. Use a handheld pump to shoot that paint out.. But thats a hell load of paint to spend.. and just for damn case of paintballs its 50.00 mainly.

here is an idea. kind of goes with the paint thrower idea. Build yourself a small catapult or trebuchet. in the sling put between 25 and like 100 paintballs. then fire. it goes over tree and most open topped barriers. only works in rec ball or woodsball. if done properly it can hit like 15 people if they are grouped kind of close together. and it does work. because it uses a sling you don't break very many paintballs when firing and you can cover a lot of ground with paint.

Yes, I know bringing something up from the dead but since no one mentioned it...

...a fire extinguisher.

A couple of guys were behind that black netting you see there firing down on our area.  We couldn't hit them with a marker and couldn't get in position with a LAW to take it out...but the paintthrower worked just fine.

BTW, that's one of the extinguishers you can fill up with water and then pressurize with an air compressor.  We had a portable air tank to refill it when necessary.  We were going to make a backpack harness for it but never got around to it. Keep in mind too that real flame throwers are NOT long range weapons.  Look at video from WWII and you'll see why those guys had such a high mortality rate.

So rather I post something up to a new thread to clog the system that was already discussed in an older thread?  I happened across it in a google search for something else, had something to add, and even had something to share that WASN'T previously covered in the post...I mean I even mentioned I realized I was bringing up something pretty dead...Jeeze you guys are touchie over here...

In other words you should have not made a new post at all, or bumped a 3 year old post on the subject. The subject of paint throwers is not a welcome one on this forum. Period.

Thanks Snake, I'll keep that in mind for next time. I would like to add though that the quote from the U.F.A.Q. doesn't expressly forbid the subjuct just that you will, as is probably the case with the whole "paintball sniper" conversation, will breed debate.  Again, I will remember to next time reference the old thread rather than bump it but as the picture shows it can be done and there are times when they can be used effectively...though they are few and far between.
