Guys

On sunday me and jim had a walk on day and was our first chance to try out our new guns

after the first game, jims marker started to leak gas.  we thought it was a broken bottle o ring but it didnt fix the problem.

one of the players is an experienced tippmann owner and he spent 2 hrs stripping and checking all he could

his conclusion was that "gas is leaking out of the cocking handle, barrel and cyclone feeder.  the gas is not being trapped in the power tube or valve"  when you cock the marker and turn the gas on it just leaks out.  its not the gasline or tombstone on the marker, its something inside either the power tube, valve or rear bolt.

we didnt dissemble these parts (in fear or invalidating the warranty) or swap them with someone elses A5 (to make 100% sure... though we might on Wednesday to confirm)

jim, a you can imagine, was very disappointed as to only have played 3minutes using what is, the most reliable and sturdy marker you can buy.

what should we do ?

the dealer in the UK (havoc paintball...europes largest) is unavailable, we simply cannot contact them.  its a terrible advert for the best woodland marker you can buy and THE ONLY reason we bought A-5's was because they are suposed to be extreamly robust and reliable.

can you guys, or anyone from Tippmann offer me some advice please

Scott

Nobody from Tippmann will read this.

But - I wouldn't worry about voiding the warranty by stripping the gun or swapping out parts.  Definitely do all your checking at home that you can - it is probably just a bad o-ring that you can fix yourself.  I have beaten up my A-5 more than you can possibly imagine, and Tippmann never complains when I send them my gun - they just fix it.

If you do need to send it to the US, you can also do that.  You might want to call Tippmann first to get a tracking number or something so it doesn't get lost, though...

Just my thoughts.

A few things to check for first. Take out your tombstone and look insidethe slot. There should be an o-ring on top, belowe that should be a washer. If they arn;t there Call Tippmann US, it would be easier for them to ship you any part you need rather than send the whole gun.If that doesn't work, then diassemble the whole gun and screw the velocity screw in. Remove the power tube and grab a good set of vice grip.

Grab onto the valve pin and pull. The valve should slip right out. Use a dental pick or something and remove the o-ring previously mentioned, then a washer should come out, followed by a spring, foloowed by your valve pin and then another seal. Remember the order they came out. Use the online manual if you need help.

Check ALL your o-rings and used the oil provided by Tippmann to oil them all as well.

your welcome. Tippmann is the best when it comes to customer service. I called once and asked what the size and durometer of an o-ring I needed was.

Instead they sent me an envelope with a handful in it.

What do you do to send them your gun? Just send it? Or call them and let them know they you'll be sending it?

You will need to call them first.  Imagine the situation, if you sold 5000 paintball markers and all of of a sudden UPS started dropping some of them off on your doorstep and you had no idea why your customers sent them in.  So, you need to call Tippmann, tell them as best you can what the problem is, they will then assign an RMA number so the marker can be tracked once it arrives, and will also tell you where to send your marker.

Whenever I've sent a marker in to Tippmann, I've called ahead first.  Just in case, I leave a detailed note with the marker about the symptoms and what I've done to correct them.  I have never had a bad experience with Tippmann.  They have one of the best customer service departments in comparison to ANY business out there.
