I don't play paintball at fields, I just play on my property, so I can do pretty much anything
I usually have paintball parties, 2 dozen people show up, mom makes homemade pizza (mmm....), and we play from 1-11
Its all good fun, except a few people always come without a gun ("Well, I brought my wrist-rocket!") because they like the game, but don't have a gun.
Normally, we just kinda trade off guns if we get hit, or let the unarmed people borrow our guns every other round
Inspiration struck...why not make the unarmed people "Medics"? Give them a wet rag, and a Medic armband, they're set
If someone gets hit, the medic on their team can come and wipe the paint for them, sending them back in action
Each team could have a medic or two, but the medics can't heal themselves, so if you get the opposing medics, the other team is in trouble
I plan on trying this next time I host a game

Not a bad idea, it's cool you're trying to get everyone included. Another alternative, when they "heal" someone, they hand off the rag and armband to that person, and they become the medic, so the medic then gets to play. So you still have the medic, people swapping in and out, and everyone has equal chances of playing/ being the medic.

thanks for the advice chewp
seems like some guys are satisfied to just be a wrist rocket warrior...theres a guy a year younger than me, friend of mine, we call him bruce...hes freakishly good with a wrist rocket...he is more accurate with that damn slingshot than Oz is with his 14"
We have a few jobs for people that arent armed
1-Medic...haven't tryed that out yet 2-Combat Cameraperson...(a few chicks always come to play)...just a handheld camcorder...fun to watch, and a good way to catch cheaters 3-President/Hostage...kinda a boring job 4-Scout...they go ahead, scout the enemy position, and run like hell 5-Sapper...fun job, they get to toss smoke rounds into positions or disconect the power to a building or lock oposing troops into buildings 6-Artillery...Armed with bottle rockets, and at night, mortars...normally they just make noise, not supposed to shoot at anyone 7-Bill Thool...my personal favorite...its what we call whoever's feeling pyscho enough to try to paint people with their bare hands (a good slap with a paintball in hand)...they can mark people on either team, but they normally get shot to pieces unless they're good...real good...

Cool stuff, you could also to object based ones. We are still thinking of doing this one. I have an empty bag in my room with a big dollar sign on it. It's old, from a bank, etc. Anyway, we'd fill it with a bunch of stuff, and essentially, one team has to break in (or at least get to) the "money" and get it back to a specific point.
It's pretty much a hostage game, but you cant really cheat, cause the bag can't move on its own.

SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD IDEA I HAD THAT IDEA BEFORE BUT NEVER HAD ENOUGH PPL SHOW UP TO ACTUALLY DO IT. WE USE TO HAVE ONE BRAVE PERSON WHO WAS THE "AMMO BOY" WE WOULD GIVE THEM HELL CAUSE HE WAS SO IMPORTANT. BUT WE WERE FAIR AND WE ALL WOUL TAKE TURNS DOING IT.

they could be corpses and go lie out in the feild before the game with a handflu of paintballs and if they could lie really still and quiet they could tag a person as they come by and the "corpses" could take the gun off of the now supposed "corpse" that way they all get to playand if you get tag by a corpse you become one and if you get tagged again in the process of "corpsing" youre outta there.

Me too, I have been married to one for 36 years, but you paid this poor girl to pose with you, right? Her father lets her date a paintballer? (I am joking with you. With such a beautiful girl, you just set yourself up for that one)

you dont get how cant you. you plant "dead Bodies" aorund the field with paint got it. then they can tag somebody if they can reach them withouty moving from their position.okay?. then if they do tag somebody they become "corpses" and take up the position while the earlier "corpse" now takes the now "corpses" marker. and if you are tag by a corpse then tag somebody elsse they are the corpse and you are in until you get hit a second time. players are out when they recieve twp hits either from markers or corpses

Thank you very much Bruce for the compliment
She is a paintballer (loves it), she just borrows my A-5...shes getting better every time
Sadly her (step)father does not let her date a paintballer...she has to literally sneak out just to go to the movies or a church carnival...her real dad likes me alot, and so does her mom...but hopefully things will improve...

I go to a senerio every year that has medics. They come in handy once in awhile. You only get 3 medic uses though.

Wouldn't people just avoid the corpes?

As an EMT it was very interesting seeing my first paintball medics in action in a recent local D-Day Scenario game. It was pretty cool except I had some specific concerns:
- Medics could not heal torso or head shots (good)
- Medics could heal themselves (no comment - could go either way)
- Medics had unlimited heals (this wasn't terrible except in combination with healing themselves was not good)
Better ideas
- Keep the no head shot / torso healing
- Keep the heal self
- Keep the unlimited heals, but connect it to having to use something. Forexample, they get bandages like triangular bandages (think old cut up sheet). They can get as many as they want but can only carry so many at a time (2-4). Then if they run out they have to go back to some supply point to get more.

Not a bad idea, but could damage the equipment. Also, they need to totally understand that they could be viewed as legitimate targets. We also had one of these walking around the field at the D-Day game, but he was a moron. I watched one of my guys sneak up a trail. A few minutes later he came back down with his marker over his head (obviously dead). A few feet behind him was walking a guy who did not have a marker or hands held up and who was not on my team. I obviously shot him and hit him smack in the knuckle and could hear him swearing and stomping off from at least 30 yards away Sorry, no sympathy for morons.

3-President/Hostage...kinda a boring job |
Kinda, but we also had a "Saving Private Ryan" objective in the Scenario. It was not well planned, but could have been. Particularly if there are objectives for both sides. What would have to be decided is can the rescuers bring him a weapon (ie off someone already killed) to make it more fun for the hostage? then do they just have to escape with him / her alive back to their own starting point? Hmmm
Klaus wrote:
4-Scout...they go ahead, scout the enemy position, and run like hell |
Good sneak attack for capture the flag. Have used this myself when in limited paint games and you run out of paint or air.

Sounds good for objective based games.

Hmmm, could also use the flash fireworks if you happened to buy any for night games. I was thinking about how cool that woul dbe to play with people's night vision like that. Just make sure everyone chrono's LOW.

Ummmm, Won't find ME playing that role.

I was thinking about making the medics carry a small kit (i.e. tacklebox) with trailmarking tape and a wet rag, that way the medic could wipe the paint off, and put a piece of tape on the person, proving that the medic healed them, not just a cheat...maybe limit the number of pieces of tape, or something

I do the same style of game except the medic is armed and they only can wipe of paint 2 times per player
------------- Remember, Its not the size that matters, its how you use it.

Maybe I could wrap marking tape on each persons arm twice, and each time they get healed, they have to give the medic one of their pieces...

If its a large game, most players will have radios. All squad leaders should have them.
