I noticed my A-5 was chronically shooting poorly with it's accuracy, so I opened it up to inspect the internals. The Tippmann expansion chamber was filthy! I cleaned it out and went to reinstall it and I stripped the female part on bottom where the gas line mounts! I normally have more patience then to do that, but it was a little stripped from before, and me tightening a fitting into it only made it worse. Tippmann used cheap metal for this part, the male threads on the quality gas line chewed right through it with no deforming.

I am going to get HPA tank anyway for a different marker (girlfriend's Paradigm) but I will still often use CO2 on my A-5.

I want to replace the broken X-chamber with a male Palmers stabilizer. Male so I have a foregrip. I ask you all, besides the reg, what else do I need to make it work with my A-5? If I order it from County I will probably get a dead on RVA and a richochet hopper if they have them, I am open for other suggestions as well, to save on shipping I'll finish her off with one large order.

I would suggest a 1200 PSI guage for your stab.

Set the output pressure for 800 PSI.

The x-chamber is stripped where the gas line goes into the bottom. But just a few hours ago, I had it all broken down to clean up the internals so that it is in perfect shape when I put the new parts on to replace the expansion chamber. I had a friend putting it together since I had solvent/oil all over my hands, and he broke the Banjo bolt! Now I cannot use it at all until I get a replacement part for that! Not a good weekend for my A-5. But for almost 2 years I haven't had a problem with it. Thanks for the info Bango. I was thinking a dead-on RVA but hadn't considered the spring kit... is it worth it?

I just got off the phone with Tippmann. I had to call 3 different times because I kept getting put on terminal hold. However, they are going to send me the Banjo Fitting for free, I don't even pay shipping. We'll see how long it takes to get here.

When using the Palmer Stabilizer a pressure gage indicating out put pressure is a necessity. The reason to use the Palmer in the first place is to be able to set the operating pressure. The A-5 without a LPK will operate at 550 psi. This reduces noise, recoil and saves gas. If you don't care about the operating pressure then there are less expensive ways to get shot to shot uniformity.

I seriously doubt you can get your A-5 down to 550 psi without the LPK.  The RT will start giving out at 700-750, and most people find their Cyclone starts skipping below 700 or so.  Some people have managed to get closer to 600, but usually after some modding.  And lower pressure does not usually increase efficiency.  Recoil, noise, and consistency, yes - but not efficiency.

An RVA can help your efficiency (if used correctly) but not your consistency.  A spring kit (new lighter drive spring) is essentially a poor man's RVA.

A gauge is nice but not necessary.  All you need for the male Stab are fittings.

You don't really need a gauge - it is just a convenience that will make it easier to disagnose problems.

For hose - just get macroline.  Then you can cut to suit.
