Famous Dave's

awesome BBQ

for $50 you get a whole BBQ chicken, 2 racks of ribs (i think 2 racks maybe a rack and a half), a big pile of your choice of pulled pork, brisket, or ham, ++ pile of fries, beans, coleslaw, cornbread, and corn on the cob, all served on an upside down metal trashcan lid feeds 4-6

the worst part is there are not many of these in the country, i was about 10 minutes from one, but i moved and now that one is an hour and a half away, there is one 45 minutes away but it is never as good, i made my family drive there for my birthday

P.S. they give BBQ sauce (which is all their own, not like heinz or anything) in a miller 6-pack cardboard carrier, 4 different BBQ sauces, 1 special mustard, and ketchup, but the food doesn't need sauce, its good, and this discussion is making me very very hungry

Fuddruckers rocks. I don't have any really good restraunts around me-blasted redneck town. Logan's has pretty decent steaks, but it's like an hour away.

Yes, nice restaurants are one of my sins.   There is actually a place in Cancun that should have made the list, but I couldn't remember the name.

As for Ruth's Chris. for some reason, Houston is the best.   I've been to them in Dallas, Austin, Vegas, Atlanta, Orlando, San Diego, Sarasota and Washington, D.C. and probably a few I have forgotten, but none of them were even close.

Ermeril's is VERY good, he has a steak that is cooked and served on a wooden plank that is outrageous.   And he cooks the way I like it... spiced up.

Although my favorite is a good old T-Bone, here is a tip for anyone that likes Prime Rib.   If you go to a place that is famous for BONE IN Prime Rib, order it medium-rare and have them blacken it with a peppercorn crust.   Make sure to get some raw horseradish on the side.

*J2* - with all the good Mexican places in DFW, why Panchos?

Esparza's in Grapevine, Abuela's, Anamias in Southlake, Mercado Juarez, Pappasitos, El Fenix, Joe T. Garcias in the Stockyards...

It's a little local pizza joint in Baton Rouge called Fleur de Lis, where the air conditioner circulates tobacco smoke as much as anything, and the cheese lies on top of the "toppings."

I hate Panchos everywhere. There are a ton of Mexican/Tex-Mex places in DFW and all around for that matter.

And most Panchos employees are transsexuals. Proven fact.
