| I've been wondering, is there any way to quite down the M98? I was just playing with the gun in my house (not gassed up), and noticed that when you cock it and then pull the trigger, it's fairly loud. Anyway to quite down the internals of the gun? |

| what really quiets it down for some reason is a remote line. I dont know why but my friend plays with a remote line and his gun seems to be really quiet. Also a longer barrel about 14" should tone down the noise. But for the love of god, dont do blowback holes. Anyways theres many ways to make your gun quiet |

Ok, not sure where you got that advice you guys, but a 14" barrel wont quiet the noise you're hearing. Heck, the only way that quiets anyhting is itf it has porting (holes) in the barrel.
Anyway, the only solution above me that might have any impact on the noise you're hearing is the rocket cock, but even then, sound goes through plastic pretty easly. If you get the low pressure kit, a new, lighter bolt takes the place of the heavy one in there clanking around right now. That will reduce kick, and noise. Other than that, Tippmanns are not quiet, sorry. |

Your best bet is the LPK, rocket cock, and a heavily ported barrel. Also silence the sear spring by putting some shrink wrap on it.

I can't comment on the rocket cock, but a ported barrel makes a HUGE difference. For any of the younger players that may not remember the sound of the SMGs or 68-Specials I will say that they are distinctive and loud. However, I have all mine fitted with J&J Ceramic barrels and have had several older players come up to me after games asking if I was playing with them. They would then come up after later games and ask if I was getting any shots in because they didn't hear the marker fire (it used to be that distinctive).
