It might be harmful on the o-rings. Use some oil designed for paintball markers.

A-5 Baller:

What's up man. Here's what I know. I don't own an A-5 I have a 98c. I have always used Hoppes #9 Gun oil and it always worked amazing for me. Be careful when you buy it though. Hoppes has a gun cleaning solution that comes in a black bottle and also says #9 on it. Stay with the orange bottle. I've always used it and it never effected any of my o-rings. For me, I use a little gun grease on the top of the bolt slide and anwhere else where the tolerances are close. I personally stay away from the 'paintball' oil that the other guy suggested. I don't trust that stuff. It seems like everyone and their cousin has made some oil 'specifically designed for the needs of the paintball player' (whatever the hell that means). Use what you want, but I don't trust any oil made by 32 degrees, or any of that junk. I've never used your dad's oil in any of my firearms or markers, but if it is a brand name stuff, you should be fine. Still, I suggest hoppes. I tried Rem Oil made by remmington, but it seemed a little too thin for me. Hope that helps.

Just go to Wal-Mart or your dad's favorite gun store and pick up a bottle of Hoppes #9 (orange bottle) for like two dollars. Works great, is a lot cheaper than the paintball oils (which are probably just paying for the name), and well works.
