The velocity is needed to make sure that the paintball comes out at a safe speed, when you play at fields, you will need to adjust your velocity according to the field.  Lower it by screwing the velocity screw in, raise your velocity by unscrewing the screw.

Go here to know how to take apart your gun and clean stuff http://www.tippmann.com/players/forum/wwf77a/forum_posts.asp?TID=81182&PN=1 - http://www.tippmann.com/players/forum/wwf77a/forum_posts.asp ?TID=81182&PN=1

once you take apart the receiver halves. Important tip: unless you like the pain of putting in tiny parts, don't unhinge the feedneck from the right receiver halve. Its a real buttercup trying to get that little spring back in.

i dont reccomend taking your bolt out.  I did the same and it really effed up the powertube.  Badly. You can strip those tiny screws on the back of your gun too.  What happened where you need to take out your bolt?
