When I buy my Tippmann A-5 this week, I'm probably gunna get it with a Flatline and E-Grip, but idk wut else. Though when buying it, are these items needed for like repair or protection?? A bolt, butt plate, bottle and gun covers, bottle threadsaver, and I don't need to buy better like squeeges, barrel plugs, gun oil, etc. right? Sorry, but I'm new to paintball and all the replies I can get will help.

A bolt - Don't need one. Aftermarket bolts for Tippmanns are typically junk.

butt plate - Definitely not necessary, chances are you'd never use it.

bottle and gun covers - Not necessary. Bottle cover recommended only if you're using a fiber-wrapped HPA tank.

bottle threadsaver - Good thing to have to protect your valve threads while your tank is in storage.

squeeges - cheap pull-thru squeegee with no exposed metal parts for the flatline. I use the all-rubber $2 VL Squeegee.

barrel plugs - gun should come with barrel cover. Don't buy a plug... if anything, get another barrel sock/condom/cover as a spare... but no more plugs. Plugs are no longer acceptable safety devices.

gun oil - Hoppes No9 Lubricating oil can be picked up at your local sporting goods store/Wal/K-mart, etc

So long as you keep the gun clean and well lubricated, you should be all set. Later on down the road you may need spare seals (O-rings), but if you treat the gun right, that will be much later down the road. Spare tank o-rings recommended now, if anything.

ok well the site im buying the gun off of has the barrel plug, squeege, gun oil, and a "standard" bolt all for free with the purchase of the Electronic Tippmann A-5. I could add a better bolt for $19 and that's a pro-team bolt...Should i do that??

Interesting... I've found the opposite to be true. I have the original stock plastic bolts on all of my Tippmanns... from the old ProLites, to the Carbines, to the 98s and my A-5. No damage whatsoever to any of them. However, I've witnessed the aluminum front bolts do damage to both barrels and powertubes.
To each his own, I suppose.

My suggestion is that you stick with the stock bolt for now, and if you ever have any problems... you can buy the Pro-Team bolt later on down the road. I'd suspect you won't have any issues with it though.

If you plan on using the tank as a stock, then a buttplate might not be a bad idea. It keeps the tank from sliding off your shoulder.

DEFINITELY stick with the stock bolt.  All currently available aftermarket bolts, by all reports, consistently underperform the stock Tippmann bolt for reliability and durability.  And they will not improve efficiency, velocity or distance (like some of them claim).

I might add that a battle swab works pretty good with the Flatline for quick midgame cleans, but you will definitely want the pull-through for thorough cleaning.  I do believe, however, that the A-5 Flatline comes with its own thicker pull-through.

For barrel condoms you have only a few selections with the A-5 Flatline - many/most will not fit, so try before you buy if at all possible.  Some of the Evil condoms will fit, and there are a few out there custom-made for the Flatline.  Worth an internet search.

Good luck.

theres no such thing as a better bolt for the A-5 as far as i'm concerned.
maybe a stronger one is avaliable, but its not better preformance wise. but if you are break one or are concerned with yours breaking, by all means, replace it with one made of stronger material. just know that it won't shoot any more accurate and chances are, it will be less by alittle
