what can i do about this myself without having to pay someone to repair it, because i have no money. i was thinking just take it out, and then locktite with red, then stick it back in, but can red hold up to 3000 psi? thanks for you guys' help |

I'd go with teflon tape instead. Locktite really isn't made for
pressure applications. Make sure that tanks empty before working
on it. |

you need to put teflon tape on the threads. don't use locktite, you'll
be sorry if you ever need to take it off. teflon is a better sealer
anyways

I had to replace my gauge on my 47/3000, I just used red. Even
blue will hold it, you should do fine with red, and if you ever need to
take it off, use a blow dryer to heat it up, and unscrew it from there.

its soo easy unscrewing something with red locktite..it should be fine
using it...plus teflon tape doesnt last that long, only about 2 weeks
then you have to re do it again...(dad said that, he works on guns, so
he knows)

i haven't had a problem with teflon wearing out. unless you are
removing it, you shouldn't have to take it off, just to replace it
because its been two weeks. if you want to long term solution, but don't want to glue it, then get teflon paste, or pipe dope from your local hardware store. the pipe dope is more solid that the paste is but works the same. appliance stores use pipe dope when sealing the threads for a gas range or dryer. you just smear it onto all the threads and then screw in. then you don't have to worrk about ever agian. if you take it off, you should inspect and make sure that everythings coated still. teflon paste works the same way. if its good enough to ensure that my house doesn't blow up due to a gas leak, then its goos enough for me. the psi ratings on them are like 10,000, so i guess that should be enough :) ------------- www.pbteamwow.com |
