No such thing as "sniping" but it sounds like a decent marker (pic doesnt work) And the barrel is to long. Basicaly after 12" the distance decreases.

I havent had a problem with range, granted I was lied to before I bought it.  The guy told me it would add lots of distance, but I found that it shoots no farther than my a-5 response.  It does sound freakin cool when you shoot it though

its moderateand all guns have about the same range unless ur using a flatline and snipers dont always use range. they are just more accurate than any one else. most snipers use m4's and m-16's. but back on topic u should've turned ur a-5 into the sniper rifle it would look much kewler than a 98

For a milsim conversion it's very nice. To thsoe of you who don't particularly like MilSim, welll, tough cookies. You've got your game, we've got ours. Modelling markers after real or realistic weapons doesn't make them evil or anything- it's just another way to enjoy the sport, and this guy's made a commendable effort.

And for any anti-snipers, I completely agree, but still, he never said he was a sniper, he said his marker was modeled after a sniper rifle, don't tell him what he probably already knows, it makes you sound like n00bs.

I give it an 8/10 for style, but to help form meet function, I would go for more of a sub, machine gun look.  That way nothing gets in your way.

Ok i have layed down long enough about saying this a sniper is

A skilled shooter detailed to spot and pick off enemy soldiers from a concealed place. so....yes people there are paintball snipers

The rifle the guillie suits there just tools there not the weapon the person behind it is.

And longer barrels doesnt mean less range i have seen people hiting the 150 feet mark with a 18 in barrel

You guys are some haters. Like one said before: "You have your game, we have ours." To each his own. You don't see us on some guy's thread griping about how his red ano'd cocker sucks because it won't blend into the foliage. It's apples and oranges.

At least give the guy an E for effort...

My opinion? It looks intimidating as hell, and I bet it works pretty good.

p.s. no offense to cocker guys - I think cockers can be pretty sweet. I was just giving an example.

I couldn't keep quiet any longer. Assuming you're talking about real snipers. No, most snipers do not use M4's and M16's, the knockdown power just isn't there, and the range and accuracy suffers from lack of kinetic energy. (sharpshooters do use these though, and others) Snipers typically (note, not exclusively) use bolt action weapons between .308 and .338 caliber, the exact caliber varies greatly. Shots are taken from concealment, at varying ranges of only a few hundred yards to the extremes of 1500 yards. The longest shot, declasified, was (and don't quote me on this because I don't have my references with me) at 1800 yards. The longest shots were taken with the .50 BMG round (typically a Barrett weapon) because of the ballistic coefficient, and extreme kinetic energy. Recently the military has begun moving the the .338 Lapua Magnum as it has much higher range potential, small lighter round, lower ballistic coefficient (a good thing), and only slightly smaller kinetic energy.

I give the guy an 8/10 he seems to have taken his time and built what he likes, despite that it may not be the best (but time will tell, and that is part of the fun). Personal taste does still count.

Master Cpl. Arron Perry of the Canadian Armed Forces in Afghanistan during combat in 2003. Using a .50-caliber MacMillan TAC-50 rifle, Perry shot and killed an Afghan soldier from a distance of 2,430 metres (7,972 ft) (Aprox 1.5 miles).

The record was set during Operation Anaconda when a Canadian three-man sniper team from the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, (PPCLI), set the new record with a shot on a Taliban fighter.

The bullet was in the air for four seconds and dropped 146 feet. About 250 meters longer than Carlos Hathcock's famous shot.

most snipers use m4's and m-16's.

This is a two year old thread and you're responding to someone who hasn't posted here in forever.

You definitely did every thing you could do to be disliked around here.

At least he did it well.

By the way, the longest sniper kill was by a Canadian, and it was definately not done with a Barrett.

Interesting.

Anyway, even though this thread died twice already, I give the kid credit for owning a sniper milsim and admitting there aren't snipers.

And hey, just to tease Canada, it was done with an American weapon

Because we all like Necro posts in this thread, Carlos Hathcock did it over a pre determined distance, with an M2 Heavy Machinegun with a scope, not a shoulder weapon...

Since it's bumped anyway . . .

Ammolord, two things regarding your sig:

  • Laser is spelled with an "s".
  • That's not a laser sight, it's a red-dot sight.  (Beats a laser sight for paintball any day anyway.)
Welcome to the forum, there's lots of good stuff here if you look around a bit.

Edited Note:  Although the corrections are partially because I'm anal and stuff like that bothers me, it is also because if you ask for help/advice some of the people who respond will base their responses off of the information in your sig.

It wasn't Arron Perry, it was actually http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rob_Furlong - Rob Furlong.

Well that's because it is unfathomable and it actually took him three shots to kill him.

Those would be marksmen.  I've never in my life heard of a sniper who's primary weapon is a standard issue rifle or a carbine.  Even marksmen fill the role of "accurate, longer range than usual shots".  Honestly, getting within 10 feet of someone and picking them off isn't so much sniper-like as it is Special Forces-like.

edit: damn old posts and their foul trickery!
