SEE BELOW FOR PICS.

I finally got them working. ( I think)

This takes a little bit of ingenuity and a little bit of
patience.

Start with a 98c feedneck ($10) and a dremel tool
with a sanding bit and a few heavy duty cutoff
wheels. You will also need a drill.

I wanted to be able to put the cyclone feed back on,
so I had to do substantially more work that someone
who wanted to go just to the vert feed.

Let me say here, that I finally have this working
flawlessly. Your A-5 will not chop or jam if you have a
force feeding hopper and do not plug the hole for the
exhaust gas. I use the egg on my warpdrive and do
not miss a beat. If you have a halo B or empire
reloader B you will be fine, but do not try this with an
agitation hopper.

Take off your cyclone feed and use your dremel to
round off and shorten the arm for the cyclone. Also
widen out the reciever of the A-5 body so that all
edges that a paintball might touch are very rounded.
Especially work off the top edge of the reciever.

Line up the 98 feed and mark lines where the
cyclone arm will interfere. Make these cuts first on
the feed so that you can better align the detail work.

Shave off the rounded pin recievers on the 98 feed
so that it can fit flat against the body of tthe A-5. You
will also need to be careful as you begin to round off
the feed just under the clamping section. This will
further allow the feedneck to fit tightly against the
body of the gun.

Drill two holes into the feed that align with the
stabilizing stubs for the cyclone.

Finally, use your sanding bit to make sure everything
is very smooth, that all the edges fit well against the
gun, and that all of the excess plastic is removed.

I use a bolt and washer through the hole for the
cyclone bolt to stabilize the feed. The washer is big
enough that it lips over the flat, bottom portion of the
feedneck and clamps it down securely.

Good luck with the mod and feel free to ask any
questions.

The centerfeed would just get in the way and you wouldn't need it because you have a eggy on a mech A-5.....

Actually, this is an e-grip with the WAS board. And
this way my feed can still keep up even with the
board turned all the way up. The cyclone just can't
function that fast. Also I did the trigger work myself
and it is literally a mouse click. My trigger is a GTA
double, but I added screws to adjust the forward and
backward travel.

Also, if you read the post, I'm using the egg on my
WARPDRIVE. That means there is now nothing
sticking out to the top or side of my gun.

The last thing coming is DYE stickies.

I wanted to do this for 2 reasons. 1- the cyclone
cannot keep up and is in the way. 2- it's cool to do
as much to you gun as possible. Who wants to be
stock?

I agree. I love homemade mods and it will help you keep up with the WAS board. The cyclone just can't compete.

You did a good job, but that's not a true vert feed.  I vert fed my old A-5, drilled a hole stright through the top and bondod on a CCM feedneck.  My way is permenant though.  Glad to see another person that realizes the cyclone is garbage.

Actually, my way is a true 'vert' feed.  What you are talking about is called a 'center' feed.  My way does not drastically alter the body of the gun.  Your's does.

The center feed is cool though.  I thought about it, but decided I wanted to be able to put the cyclone back on if I had to.

No. "Vert" means Vertical. As in paint drops vertically straight down. And a 98 elbow is not vertical. It goes down, but then curves into the chamber.

What you have is a Right feed.

But that's all just terminology. The real topic is just the fact that you did a very good home modification. Cyclone removal has been around since the dawn of the A5. Not really for purpose, because people can just get a Custom Pro really.

But done for bragging rights, and a "just to do it" mentallity.
