I want to make my own course too. There isn't one very close to where I live and I could start charging kids to play in it.

Check this out!!! A greenhouse up the road shut down and gave the greenhouses to us for free. They are not wide, but i lifted one side of both of them and made one huge greenhouse. then we put fans and a mister in it, and were buying turf and bunkers for a indoor speedballcourse!!!

lucky^ at my field we don't have netting, but we play in a clearing in the woods so the trees block all paint that flies off course.

Air bunkers are a lot of money. 10,000 for a full set.

Yup, each bunker costs about $200-1000. Not too cheap, the whole sport is expensive.

OK we found an easier way.....Plywood!  get seven strips of wood and 3 plywood pieces, one half as long as the rest. space the plywood apart about 3'' (enough to effectively shoot through) and place 2 pieces of wood at the top (front and back) and the bottom (same). Nail. Then place the short wood over the bottom half and nail it so you have about a 2 foot slit to shoot through. then nail 2 of the pieces to the bottom of your project so they are slightly longer than the bunker. Then to even this out we slide the last piece of wood longways up into the wood so it acts as a wedge to keep the bunker from falling. Nail it and Wallah! you are on your way to a new cheap speedball course. For a long bunker just leave the 3rd piece of ply off and put the last 3 strips on the side.

ugh, thats a bad layout. mix it up, eh? and i don't know about you, but any more "war" associated with paintball is not good. paintball is not war, it is paintball. the last thing our sport needs is another group of mothers against us. i can see it now: "New Group, MAP, acronym for 'mothers against paintball"

Paintball causing lasting eye damage

Associated Press

CHICAGO -- Injuries to adults and children playing paintball have tripled in recent years, including eye damage causing lasting vision loss, a study found.

From 1997 to 2000, paintball-related injuries nationwide climbed from 926 to 2,780, with up to a third occurring in children younger than 15, according to the study that analyzed injury data from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

In 1999 alone, there were 519 eye injuries among 779 total paintball-related injuries to children under 15. Bleeding and retina detachment were among the most common eye injuries.

Many injuries occur because players are not wearing goggles or face masks, said researcher Dr. David Listman of St. Barnabas Hospital in New York.DUH!

Doctors should be aware of the dangers and lobby for restrictions in paintball equipment sales to minors, Listman said. (at my Wal-mart they wont even sell my Parents paintballs when im there)

His study appears in January's issue of Pediatrics, published Monday.

Paintball is a battle game in which players shoot at each other using compressed-gas guns filled with marble-size paint capsules. The game is played at organized paintball centers, which usually provide and require face masks, Listman said. But children often play without protective equipment in woods, back yards or even basements, he said. (i feel someone should watch them)

Tim Richmond of the Paintball Business Association, which provides insurance for paintball fields and services for about 400 accounts, said the Greenville, S.C.-based group's safety requirements include goggles or full face masks.

In 1999, an estimated 8 million people played paintball at more than 2,500 sites, Listman said.

And this is supposed to make us look better? I added the smart remarks....

hey i play woodsball...but me and my frends already set  our own course..for wen we wanna fool around... in this  huge pit  in the edge of this mountain. We found wood, tarp, car parts(we dont know how a car got in there but we scrapped it),  and  huge oil cans  and  made a  kickasss course but wen it rains hard, our course becomes a lake...so if  u live by  the woods  find fallen trees...take it for wood and find sum other crap that laying around the woods or sumones trash or garage and make a rlly cheap course...if u want it more indoors and have blow up obstacles turf that ur prob...

Its a triangle with an opening in the middle, kinda like the X in X-ball. You place the flag in the middle and at the field it blocks nothing

If you make any structures (sheds or whatnot) bigger than 8x5, you'll need a building permit. If you make any money, you'll need to get a business license. If you have any guests/new people, you're gonna need some sort of insurance policy.

And that layout doesn't really promote movement. Once you get to your bunker, you can't move up the field. If it's a 3-3, there aren't a whole lot of bunkers that'd you'd be able to move to without someone already being there.

I was talking to a contractor about paintball and he told me about his only experience playing. It was right after he got out of the marine corps he got home and a friend and him went to Walmart. They shot at each other with Talons in the backyard and didn't know they needed eye protection.  His friend took one right on the top of the bridge of his nose, off to the side in the corner of his eye. He was hurt bad, they never played after that.
