Well boys and girls here it is... I've finally finished it after $850+ of upgrades...  If she wasn't leaking so god awful bad I would of made a video... that and the fact I need a longer hose.      whats on it? Get a macroline hose, it's much easier. I still don't get why anyone would bother putting 850 into a 98 custom, it just seems so stupid to me, you could've bought a new gun that's 10x better than what you have there and it'll be still stock.  The whole hate thing was done when I was a little under the bottle.... I'm planning on giving her my own paintjob. White of course... The whole "Hate" and "HK" thing will be gone when I do it. Why did I spend $850 into a Custom? Well why the Hell not? I've only had 2 Major problems with it. Ripped whire, and stripped screw. Ever since I got my Centerfeed, and Shocktech Bolt I've never choped YET This thing shoots so smooth you wouldn't think its a Tippmann, and it weighs under 3lbs EASILY. This 98c is just like a older model Matrix. Infact I would put a little money down Compairing weight, Accuracy, Efficency, and all around looks. -------------

because the air line leaks and is to short, the battery is just hanging

Yes, but those upgrades are under $10 type upgrades, nothing Exciting.... Macroline is not really an upgrade.

A 98c being and old matrix? I think not? Honostly i think you putting 850 dollars into a 98 custom is just plain dumb. You just want a good name here at the tippmann forums. That's why i think you did that. I bought my dm3 for 400 bucks. Brand new in box. I think you made an aweful decision. I'm sorry. It's good and all, but a waste in my opinion. -------------

I agree. Your 98c is awesome, don't get me wrong, but for that kind of money you could've gotten into a whole different class of markers. God damn its about time some one says that. If you read my posts earlier WHY I spent so much money is because I thought my Tippmann was worth it... I wouldn't of done nearly this much work on a Spyder or a Cocker etc... My little project Started with County Mike saying that he had "1" E-bolt left instock and I HAD to have it, and thank god I had the money to the last one. Then once I got installed, I wasn't even ganna add very much to it left, then... I just felt the thing fired, and new I had to make THIS marker special. I first bought a good loader for it, knowing my Revvy wouldn't do jack smack now, got that all going, but I was still chopping a bit, then I bought HPA tank, That Helped Greatly , but was still chopping, I got the Low pressure kit, and my Chopping problem almost stoped dead in its Tracks... I was all happy and full of my self. But after 12bps it would become its own blender... So I sat around wondering what would make it work better, and I knew Centerfeed would deffinetly help it out some. I got my Centerfeed kit, and had it installed, and It still chopped time to time, but rarly, but i wanted the chopping to stop all together, So I go agianst my thoughts, and order a ShockTech Bolt, BSI Stick Trigger(not so much a chopping thing, more for looks, and performance). Then I felt like I owed it to my Tippmann to make it a "Super" 98 custom like NN's, and I decieded to get a few goodies installed from nelson county customs, and I was only one E-mail away from doing so, but then... Mike(not County Mike) decided He wanted to go on a 3 month Vacation without anyone knowing, So I stopped even Attempting to do that "NN" upgrading... Then I sat around looking at my E98c like its a piece of junk now, and I had that selling frenzy, but since there was not 1 good offer(well... there were some but I didn't like them), I decided I might as well make it the best I can with what my Mental Cpacity will allow, and I decided the first thing I need to work on is my PSI output, consistancy, and most of all... Weight... and agian with the Help of County Mike, I got a Palmer Rock LPR to replace my bulky GTA LPR, a New Halo w/Rip, and a few other things, but there was one thing I could make that much lighter.. MY BARREL, and with the Help of locals down in Salt Lake they tolled me the best barrel, that will reduce weight while still adding Hella good Accuracy is the Stiffi. and well... The Rest is what you see... -------------

aside from the centerfeed and your drunken escapades. im sure it
performs like a beast and all, just it looks a little...ehh.
personally, i say fix your leaks, get a cover for that battery, mill
it, paint it, then show it again. im still waiting to see this.

yea man looks good to me. For all you rich mammas boys not everybody has $400 to $1000 to drop on a PAINTBALL MARKER. The thing with a 98 is you can customize them to no end, Make it a scenario or a speedball gun and mix and match upgrades. And you can spend money when you get money. They arent like your angels or dm4 or dm5. All of those look the same other than the color. I can flip to a page in a magazine and see one of those, but show me a 98 like pandas or any other CUSTOMIZED 98 on this forum in a magazine. ------------- GO BUCKS!!! |

I would spend 850$ to upgrade that 98c because even if i only had a 98c that could probably beat a dm3 in most things i know IM STILL A BETTER PLAYER AND THE GUN ISN'T EVERYTHING IN THE GAME. Looks nice, it's unique no matter what anyone says to the contrary(mine is still the only e-bolted 98 I've seen this year), it's consistent and I have shot over 6k rounds through it without one break. I agree it really isn't a good way to spend that kind of $ when the ebolt alone is almost double the price of the gun, but those things are personal choices. I modded the battery on mine similar to NN's; it's in the tank cover and makes the overall look smoother, but those are just asthetics..good job Panda. ------------- Imagine there’s a picture of your favourite thing here. |

good job panda...but i expected more for all the talk and hype you were getting. Anyone could buy those upgrades and put them on just like you did but it's the creative things that really could put a gun like that over the edge. Do some sick milling and do your paint job...talk to county about putting some eyes in it and a new board to accompany it or something like that and then post it again in "all it's glory", I would love to see someone put eyes on a 98...mostly cuz that's what I want to do to mine...think about it Great job overall! ------------- my tippmann is better than yours http://model98.org">

Yes, I admit... I hyped my baby up WAYYYY to much... but I guess it was
the Money talking really.... I'm going get some macroline for it
tomarrow, and Get her running Excellent, and get her weighed and take a
picture of it, so that everyone will know how much it really weighs...
Seems like a 3lb weight does seem a bit lighter... I'm going to ghetto paint her with some spray paint, I wanted it done with powder coating to make it last, but I guess my Reciver halves will meet Mr. Spray-paint. I Feel really goofy now... I thought I had a killer 98c, I mean it has treated me so well, I guess thats why I hyped it up thinking it was the greatest thing since Caned Corn, but alot of you guys were right, and any Joe-shmoe with $850 could do the same thing I did... well anyways... I may say I'm "finished" but with me, it never stops... I see the stupid little things that mean so much for some stupid reason... In alot of ways I'm to much of a wuss to do my own milling thats why I never got around to it, I didn;t want to Drill to far or sand to much, and completly  up somthing... Is this the end of my E98c? Course not... I'm hoping I can balls up, and mill some good things. I admit, the "Hate" and "HK" things were a bit.... 'Odd'... but it "seemed" like a good idea at the time. It was just so wierd of getting negative feedback for my E98c, I mean its the on the field, guess its just a normal old 98c when it's behind a camera....Well anyways, I'm working on a New project right now... Nothing special really... I'm just ganna help fix up a 98c with a Cyclone for a friend who is getting very intrested in paintballer where going halves in on it, and hopefully it turns out good.... (this time there will be no "hype" just a kid working on a Mech 98c.) once agian... Panda, don't spray paint
it with the cheap stuff, go to WAL*MART and go to automotive, pick your
colors, thy're all lacquer paints I believe, which is what was on the
98 to start with, you'lll need a lacquer clear coat as well, $10 max.

go to any auto parts store and get acrylic enamel paints it's the same thing they use on autos, because aluminum it tough to get anything to stick to use self etching primer you won't be disapinted. i too feel this is one sweet performing marker but the looks are a bit BLAH and as you said earlier waaaaaay too much hype. don't be afraid to mill and paint just try it mistakes are bound to happen just fix them and move on. good gun, but, yes you could do a lot more aesthetic upgrades, such as
paint milling off you letters, and sight, also, the lip over the
velocity adjuster is easy to remove with a dremel! paint it white and i
will love it
