you can use paint remover and 0000 steel wool. you can actually just get by with the steel wool if you feel like using a little effort. spray the paint remover/thinner/stripper whatever onto your reciver halves. you will want to remove all the internals first of course. tape off and hole because it will run onto the outside of you gun and start to break the finish down. then rub it in and off with t rag. repeat as much as needed or as you like. then polish is up with steel wool. some people use Mothers Wheel polish and report good success. i just used the steel wool. make sure its #0000 or you might scratch the reciver halves and then it might not seal up properly. polish with whatever you choose until its clean and smooth. you only have to do it where the moving valve and bolt are. but you can choose to polish the whole thing if you want. i advise not to polish where the barrel adapter sits. ------------- www.pbteamwow.com |

here are two ways to polish the internals of a 98c. one way is to use
steel wool... 
it cost about $2. you can find it at any hardware store. but make sure you get the right kind.... 
...make sure you get #000. as shown in this pic. you don't wan't to messup your gun or anything. first step... 
take apart your gun. remove all the inernals. then clean up all the gun oil that is on the left and right receivers.. 
...when you start polishing the receviers... 
....the best place's to start are the, back and front bolt areas, in the area were the linkage arm moves Around, in the area were the sear moves around and any other place you feel like. just remember to polish the same areas on both recivers. also when you use steel wool to polish the 98c i may get alittle messy. so when your done wash off both recerviers with running water and dry throughly. make sure no left over steel wool is on both receivers. if there is this will cause major problems. when done washing and drying put gun back together and you are done.this will help your 98c in the long run... the other way is to use a dremel tool. i don't have one yet so if someone has one please post how to on this thread, thank you. using steel wool is the cheapest way to polish the internals but not the easiest way. also if you own an a-5 you can polish your internals also the same way you can a 98c. -------------  Always Bite the Hand

I used the gray polishing wheel from the dremel on the 98 I just got. This wheel removes the blackened/grayish overspray and polishes the metal very nicely. Let the wheel do the work, you don't need to use that much pressure or force to do the job. When that was done, I used the white buffing wheen and the paste polish issued with the dremel kits...came out really nice...almost like a mirror. I also did the hammer...the ramp where it skips over the sear and the rest of the contact areas in the same manner. Then I did the top and sides of the sear, the body halves where the sear moves and the spot under the trigger. |

That Cratex wheel will polish to a degree, but it will leave marks in the surface that are less than really smooth. The way to go is with the felt bob that is in the Dremel Kit. Dremel also has a polishing rouge that works perfectly with the bob. It will take a while...some 20 minutes per side. This will take the finish to a mirror one...literally you can see your face in it. After you have finished polishing, wipe it down well and oil the surface. The really high polish, particularly in the ball chamber are will actually cause the bolt "O" ring to stick because it is so smooth. |

when i polish my a-5 internals, with the steel wool, is it possible that i might accidentally scrub too mutch to the degree where the orings wont be able to fit, meaning will i have scrubed so mutch that the orings wont fit? and what do i do to cover the the hole that leads to the cyclone feed. yeah, suposed to be good for the insides. but im just doing it cause im bored as hell, and it sounds good, when your describing your gun. "o yeah, my gun has a flatline, e-grip, pure energy tank, with polished internals. . . . .
