I would go with either the Evil Pipe or Redz kit. (I voted for Redz, but either/or would be my choice)

Quality control issues with the Empire kit have me "iffy" about it.

I have the Freak system myself... but bought my Freak stuff used, or got in trade... and back when there weren't any other barrel kit choices.

These days... I would MUCH rather have a barrel kit with SOLID back sections. The Freak inserts are too thin and prone to damage in my opinion. A solid back section would be a much better choice to me.

Like shorty said, the freak kit is weak. THe insersts are cheaply made and I have seen some inserts bend and break.

The empire kit I hear is great. I was thinking of picking one up myself.

The pipe kit is very good. BUT, the barrel porting weakens it. If you try to shoot though broken paint in the barrel, the area between the barrel porting breaks, thus connecting the barrel porting.

The redz kit I haven't heard much about.

I agree that the Freak has its issues (although the newer SS inserts are much more sturdy), there is a tremendous advangate that insert-based kits have over solid-back kits:  Easy switching between guns.

I have three backs for my Freak kit, so I can use the entire kit on any of my guns.  When I get around to buying an Angel, I can essentially buy an entire Freak kit for $40 - the price of another back.

If you have different guns, inserts are the way to go.  Otherwise, I tend to agree that solid backs are better.

Good luck.

I've had excellent results with the JJ Edge kit.  I bought a 4 piece kit for about 115.00 3 or 4 years ago.
