what is the metal piece and spring for on the trigger i plan on making my own

The metal piece is the part that actually pushes the sear, releasing the hammer and firing the gun.

im talking about the compressed spring that is full coverd on the back of the trigger nd could it possibly work without it

It's a slider spring, and the sear can't be tripped without it, so no, it won't work without it.
