Just finished installing an RT the 98 custom leaks like a SOB
down the barrel, a steady fast flow. I have not taken it apart again
yet, because I've been messing around with my markers all afternoon. I believe it to just be an O ring, but has anyone else ran into a leaking problem like this one. I just want to be prepaired for when I take it apart again here a little later tonight. Any idea's just let me know. |

The valve (i guess that is what it is called) was messed up I'm not
sure if somthing was sligtly jamming it cauing it not to stop the co2
flow or what. Either way replaced it and now it working fine.

Negative, teflon tape is important on all air threads. Loctite is meant to lock threaded objects in place, not seal air connections. -------------

I beg to differ. Loctite is a thread sealer/thread locker. It fills in small imperfections in the threads so they don't leak. It also protects the threads from rusting etc. I prefer to use blue loctite on all of my airlines. Seals up well, makes sure things don't rattle loose (unlike teflon tape), and is easy to remove with moderate force. Think I am full of it? Go to your garage (or neighbors garage if you are not man enough) and look at your (or his) air compressor. Notice the air fittings from the factory have *gasp* loctite on them, not teflon tape. Still think I am full of it? reason they have loctite on it, is because most air compressor companies arent planning on their consumers taking apart their compressors and upgradeing them.  they put it on yes, so it wouldnt leak, but also so that it wont move.ever.(nother joke)------------- http://imageshack.us">

i still like teflon tape ALOT better for sealing teflon tape = sealing loctite = locking in place (hence the name) if they intended it to seal it would be called sealtite. just my opinion take it or leave it. ------------- http://img76.imageshack.us/my.php?image=stickemup6of.jpg">

Teflon Tape > Loctite But the reason a lot of companies reccomend Loctite is because its idiot proof. Teflon tape requires more techniqe than just dripping it on there. -------------

So it really isn't made for sealing? Sure you guys are right about making compressors so they don't come apart, but i am confident that it is more important that they don't leak. It is intended to seal, and sealtite does not have the nice ring to it. -------------

My God, you guys need to chill out, either one is useful in stopping an air leak but, I prefer Teflone since, its water resistant and seals faster than Loctite which needs time cure properly. ------------- Do not steal....the government hates competition!
