of self proclaimed rednecks posers. There are a lot of rednecks in my
county, most go to the school that PAINTBALL1(the 16 year old on here
with the baby) goes to though. If somebody keeps calling themself a

A word is bad because acording to how it is used, and how the people it is used on take it. The N word when used by a black in refrence to another black in greeting, is not taken to be derogetory. But, from a white, it is very offensive. Same thing goes for...

Arguably, yes. We can argue until judgement day about how nig.ger should or should not be offensive - the fact is that it IS. Reality is what it is. If "redneck" carried the emotional load that "nig.ger" does, then we shouldn't be using that work either. As it turns out, "redneck" has even less emotional impact than "cracker". |

How does the suffering of a group make it worse? I dunno, maybe its because I dont know what it really was like 30 years ago. So you're saying it reminds them of bad times? And if that's the case, I understand it. But what about the kids my age that didn't live in hardship either? I think that's a fair point. BUT - we live within the confines of society. There are many places in the world where "n.igger" is not particularly offensive, and where white people use the word all the time, instead of "the n-word". But we do not live in those places. In our place, in our time, "ni.gger" is societally offensive. "Redneck" is not, as evidenced in part that I have to filterdodge one but not the other, and by the fact that nobody would know what you meant my "the r-word". If I knew you to be honestly and incredibly offended by "redneck" I would probably, out of common courtesy, not use that word around you. There are many words that I use in some company and not in others. Similarly, you can generally assume that most Americans will be very very offended by "**edited**.er", but most will not be offended by "redneck". If you are in company where "**edited**e.r" is safe, then go nuts - in that company. Ultimately, IMO, it is all about common courtesy. |

Why can't there be a White Entertainment Channel isn't that just as racist as a Black Entertainment channel? We have a club called EMOJA dont know what that stands for but the kids in the club say everybody but black people. They talk about equal rights and stuff for minorities. They're motta is "equal rights for minorities" Where I come from blacks 40% white 40% mexicans 15% and other 5% That seems like racsim to me. Does it to you?

BET doesn't mean it is a television station that does not air white programming. Yes, it is geared towards the urban culture persay; however, it is not racism. There wouldn't be much of a difference between a "WET" station and abc, nbc, cbs, etc. There's just a lot of whinning done by both sides because they feel they are the victims, it's very counter-productive. |

Being called a redneck is about as offensive as being called a nerd.
It also doesnt have the same hate connotation as the word nig.ger or all the other racial epitates. Sure it is all name calling but some words just have alot more negative history than others. I dont see a large group of people treating white backwood Amercians like second class citizens or animals for centuries while calling them "Rednecks." And after finding out that behavior is wrong continue to call them that name while stil believing that person is being inferior. Sure rasism exists in all racist and ethinic groups, but it isnt the way a healthy society should behave. If someone is lazy why do you have to call them anything but lazy? I am willing to be it is because you think they are more then just lazy and you think that you are better than them. Way to judge other people.
