If it cracked when you took it apart, it was obviously cracked already
to begin with, most likely from you abusing it. Unless you used a
crowbar to pull the reciever halves apart with the bolts still in
place, you'd never crack it like that just taking it apart.

Its completely obvious that you left the bottom bolt in, got confused
why the halves wouldnt come apart, and started going superman on it. I think its more like your intelligence is questioned. By doing that in the first place, and then by coming on here and trying to pass it off as some mysterious failure by tippmann. -------------

Now, you are still faced with a repair method. The Tippmann frame is a low strength aluminum alloy. Not quite "pot" metal but not an alloy that lends itself to most aluminum welding processes. If you can straighten it so that the parts fit together again you may find that an epoxy product like JB Weld will fix it. Roughen the underside (inside) of the frame with coarse sand paper so the epoxy has something to grip. Smear some on the broken edges and press them together. Then on that roughened inside smear a layer about 1/8" thick bridging the crack line. Screw or clamp the frame to a board or other flat surface to maintain alignment until the epoxy is cured. The other method is find a welder who knows how to braze aluminum. If he knows what he is doing it will not be cheap $50-$70. If he hasn't done such repairs before do not let him learn on yours. Find someone else |

GEEZZ.. As a reminder to us all, don't forget to unscrew the ASA adapter screws before trying to open it. And at that, never pry a cast open because if it's stuck it's stuck for a reason. Agreed? go to www.tippmannparts.com and order a new half....it will cost you
about $35 bucks. Everybody overtightens, forces, etc. from time
to time....next time if something seems stuck examine it closely for
any bolts, etc. that you may have missed.....the only exception is if
your really pissed and want to throw it away anyway.
