PSPs should have been able to take full sized DVDs, why would I go out buying 3 inch disks at $30-$40 each when I have all the movies already at home.

why are they overrated? well first off, saying something is overrated doesn't require an explanation, it means people think something is better than it is. it is self-explanatory.

I never saw this before, so it's not that old.

I'm getting a PSP this week. The only thing that I see that could be wrong with them is the fact that there aren't alot of really crazy cool games for it.

However, UMD discs aren't that expensive (movies), and they are smaller and easier to carry than dvds.

I also see UMD coming to your tv. I wouldn't be surprised to see UMD players built into some of the new HD, LCD, and Plasma tv's.

I dont think I would use it as a cellphone.

As for the UMD's, they should have made it with a software already in use, instead of the secret sony software. Thats my only beef with the PSP.

I played Spiderman and Untold Legends on the PSP, and I haven't yet spent the money to get a bigger memory card for music or anything, so I'm more or less waiting until a game I can really get into comes out.

man get at least a 256...the psp is capable of so many things that most people don't know about...you don't need to buy the freakin UMD's to watch movies/tvshows/videos, you losers

I haven't gotten it because I haven't needed it. (And my wedding is massively expensive on our income.) I don't really have any inclination to put music on it, or use it as a browser. Movies might be nice though. It's a long flight to Hawaii.

You can drop a brick on a DS and it will work fine... (Dont ask me how I know)

As well, 2 or so more months and Nintendos internet network will be up and running.

I remember in Nintendo Power magazine, during the first Gulf War, there was a letter and pictures from a soldier serving overseas. His Gameboy was in a hummer when the hummer was hit with an enemy grenade. The hummer was blown to crap, and the Gameboy was a melted heap.

They got some pliers and forced the power switch over and the Gameboy turned on. You could just make out the Nintendo logo through the half-melted and charred screen.

Unless you want to make like... Blu-Ray UMDs, I'm not sure if would be possible in HD. A UMD holds only 1.8 GBs as opposed to a DVD which holds more than 4. And unless I'm mistaken I don't think there are many movies that can fit on a DVD in HD.
