The custom pro is basically the same (in terms of design) as the 98 custom so you shouldn't need the low pressure kit to use compressed air instead of CO2. You'll only need the low pressure kit if you get a low pressure output tank. Compressed air tanks are available with high pressure outputs (800 psi roughly) and those don't require the kit but the ones that put out like 400psi and lower will most likely need it to get your velocity up. I'm pretty sure the valve in the custom pro is the same as the 98c so as long as you have a high pressure output tank you should be able to use it without any other mods. Don't confuse the internal pressure with output pressure though. Internal pressures will be 3000 psi or 4500 psi most likely (i think there are a few others that are less common) and output pressures are about 800 psi for high pressure and probably 400 psi and under for low. I think they also sell adjustable ones that can work with high or low pressure setups but i wouldn't buy one unless you plan on going with low pressure in the future.

What's wrong with how it's shooting? It might not be the co2 at all.

HPA is good for any gun.  even if it's the custom pro, you can trade for another gun and not worrie about the tank.....
