I am asking because I might get a Ion and right now I have a 98c and I don't now if that is a good choice.

If you're serious about speedball, definetly the ion. I just play
speedball with a bunch of my friends every sunday, so my 98C is fine.
However, if I were to go serious (tournaments and stuff), I'd definetly
get, at a minimum, an ion.

Unless you have the money for the ion, HPA, and an electro hopper the ion isnt for you. |

First of all, there really is no such thing as a sniper in paintball. A
sniper, by definition, is able to take a target out at a long range,
without being seen and having to face retalitory fire. In speedball,
snipers don't exist. In woodsball, you could hide, and take the other
team out, but they would still be able to hit you. The flatline with
the extra distance did allow this somewhat, but "sniper" still wasn't
really there. With the advent of the APEX barrel, sniping is now
actually a possibility, since it able to fire a very great distance.
You'll only really be a sniper with an APEX. Otherwise you're just
gonna be known as a smuck who thinks he's a sniper. Oh, and I don't even know why I responded to your post, since it is completely off topic, and I have now just contributed to hijacking this thread. ------------- Ref: I want a nice clean game player: but it's paintball! |

True. Whoever voted 98 custom that many times should be shot. The Ion is a much better gun a 98 Custom, screw um all, get a B2k! -------------

I agree tippmanns can be upgraded beyond belief to be made into killer guns. ------------- 98% of ion owners think ions are better than any high end gun. If you would like to bonus ball these idiots put this in your sig. Proud owner of 3 guns and counting. |

It's like comparing a 350Z to a Xterra. The Ion is easier to shoot faster, is lighter, more compact, but I wouldn't take it into a sloppy mud game. The 98 is tough to break, works in the worse conditions, shoots well on CO2, and is about 1/3 the price.
Do you need an Ion? Maybe not. Would an Ion be nice? Sure. Perhaps you should keep the 98 as a backup. Life sucks when you can't play because your only gun is crapping out on you. ------------- Didn't I say, "No Guns for the Monkey?"
