Ok, so I got the results of my first test of my college career....a C-...Really bummed me out but I'm not all that suprised...I knew I wouldn't do that great. Anyway, I trace my crappy grade back to the fact that I have like zero study skills because highschool was too easy. Anyway, I am now in the process of finding a remedy to my lack of skillz...Any help?

Buckle down. Look over notes. Don't have a computer on or anthing distracting. Complete silence.

Study group.  Make peer pressure work FOR you, instead of against you.

Never cram, study as you go along
Rewrite things to learn them, you remember them more clearly that way.
Study to classical music, helps you think more clearly and stay on task.

Not true.  College GPAs are important.  All college degrees are NOT created equal.

Don't do silence, then you hear bumps and people talking outside your window. Have soft classical or easy music playing very low, but enough to block out people walking down your hallway, etc. Chew gum. Studies proved that it increases your concentration level by 17%.

Well, everyone studies differently.  Study groups are only good if you're the idiot of the bunch and need to ask questions.  If you're a cut above everyone else, it doesn't really do you much good if all you're doing is answering other people's questions.

Again, everyone has different ways to retain information.  I have to write things down a lot in order to remember them, so I go through pads upon pads of paper re-writing my notes and such.

Also if you have access to past exams, those are always good to work through.  Not only do you get to practice your time management, but a lot of profs like to re-use old questions.

I agree with Funky - everybody is different.  But the study group I had in mind was not the "ask questions of the smart guy" kind, but the "shut the hell up and study in the same room and glare at each other at any sight of weakness" kind.  Purely for moral support, not for substantive help.

Well, the root of all of this is the simple question, do you learn better auditory, visually, or hands-on?

From the tests I've taken I'm auditory mostly then visual.

Have a friend call stuff out over and over until you get it. That's how I had to study vocabulary. A lot of people use flash-cards. It must really help because I see 1/2 of my class before an exam flipping flash-cards. Don't get too discouraged. Most people do bad on their first college exam. Everyone has told me that you learn from the first one and the rest aren't near as bad. In fact, I've had several people tell me that they flunked their first exam and studied hard and ended up with a B or an A as their final in a class. I sure hope that's true. I'm in the same boat as you. I'm doing horrible in chemistry.

NASA and the Americans spent millions of dollars and hundreds of hours to develop a pen that would write in space.....The Russians used a pencil.

Getting off the computer is a big first step.

See the big red and white "X" in the upper right hand corner of your screen?  Press it, and start studying.

What exactly is the problem?  Is it that you can't remember, can't understand, or just aren't studying?

Reward oriented studing.

Make flash cards and for the answers you get right, you get flashed by a lady. Hire a female tutor you game is a little weak.
