16" anything longer would just waist too much air.

1.  That gun is alright.  It's nothing special but its okay

2. Barrel length has nothing to do with air consumption.  A certain amount of air is in the CVX valve when you pull the trigger.  And air has nothing to do with effective barrel length.  Besides not only anything longer than 16" being too bulky and heavy, the effective barrel length is 14"-16".  And that my friend is actually backed up by facts.  n00bcake

edit*  It's spelled waste.

Stop kidding yourself.

No air is in the CVX valve when you pull the trigger. When you pull teh trigger, the hammer goes forward, and opens the CVX valve, allowing air to cycle through teh valve and out the barrel.

A paintball stops accelerating at about 8", before porting. This information comes from Tom Kaye, a guy who invented paintball as you know it today.

Air has a lot to do with it.

Longer barrel means more surface for the paintball to rub on. More friction.

That means after 8", the paintball starts to decelerate.

In order to get the paintball to accelerate to the same muzzle velocity as a barrel with a shorter length, you need to have more INITIAL force.

Think of it like this..

You have two tabletops covered in sandpaper (to simulate friction). You have two identical wooden blocks. One table is 21" long, and one table is 8 inches long.

Your goal is to get that wooden block from one point on the table, past a line marked on the floor.

For the 8" table, you just flick the wood right off the table and over the line.

For the 21" one, your going to have to flick it much harder to get it to reach the same mark on the floor.

Dont call other people n00bcakes when you are in fact an ignorant fool.
