Are you loosening the receiver screws? You have to loosen the sight screw and the forward grip screw to be able, on most 98Cs, to screw in a standard barrel or the Flatline adapter.

Screw it in as far as it will go. It will usually turn in until the adapter barrel locking screw (the split in the adapter) moves to about the 7:00 to 9:00 o'clock position (looking straight into the end of the receiver). Then turn it back until the split in the adapter lines up closely with the bottom receiver-halves split-line at about 6:00 o'clock. Then tighten the sight and grip receiver screws to lock the adapter to the receiver.

Then press the barrel into the adapter and tap it with a rubber mallet, if necessary, to seat in fully into the adapter. Twist the barrel right or left slightly to get it aligned with no curve to the left or right. Then tighten the locking screw at the bottom of the adapter to hold the barrel tightly in the adapter.

At this time it might be a good idea to fire a few rounds to be sure that the balls aren't curving left or right. Loosen and slightly adjust (twist) the barrel left or right to get proper trajectory alignment. Play ball!
