So today I wore this shirt my uncle got me (veteran).  On the front it said "7.62 design" and on the back it said "671 Grains of Diplomacy" and it had a military sniper laying in a ghillie on the back.  So I walk out of first period today, and an administrator sees it.  I am forced to put another shirt on (luckily I had one with me).  Supposedly it was a "violent" shirt, even though it is depicting something from teh military.  So what pisses me off even more is I see the same administrator later in teh day carrying on a normal conversation with a black kid later that day.  His shirt had a picture of an MP5K on it and it said "Welcome to the Hood".  She didn't even mention it.  It just really pissed me off, had to vent.

My shirt:

Trust me, I didn't freak out.  I'm not one to protest authority over such small things.  I was just irritated at teh racism.

No, I was listening.  It was just a normal conversation that anybody would have.  Even if she was and I missed it, she didn't do anything about it.

why do say racism?

yes, it could be racism. but maybe she thought his shirt was ok (for whatever reason), maybe she thinks he is hot, maybe she just doesn't like you. maybe it's a political thing.

or, most likely, she just slipped - consistently enforcing rules is really hard.

teachers only say it to kids they know that will turn the shirt inside out or put on a different one...the other kid probably would have told the teather to go <flip off> if she asked him to remove his shirt...it's really not fair

BEcause the kid was black, and all black people cry racism whena  figure of authority confronts them, obviously.

I saw this one shirt with the SUC on the front and Trae holding two sawnoff shotguns and Z-ro with a pistol. It was a good shirt, and when I said he had a good taste in music he was like "white boy say wha?!?!" It was rofl worthy.

You ever heard of chamillion, or paul wall, and (to a much, much lesser extent) slim thug lil flip and mike jones? Trae and Z-ro pioneered the music they did/do. They were so underground their mixtapes were actually tapes. One of them, I think trae, is in Paul Wall's song sittin sideways.

Exactly.  I'm stereotyping the majority of what I see on a daily basis.  From my past observations that is exactly what would have most likely happened.  That comes from my personal observations, it may not represent the majority of the population.

No.  From his experience/observations, if a black person is told to do something by a white person, they cry racism.  Same happens where I live.  If its a white guy trying to make a black guy do something, then the black people say its racism.

How is he not wrong?  WGP and you (glazener) both posted gross generalizations based on race (=racism), while calling other people racist.  Pretty straight-forward.

At least WGP didn't try to cover it up with the old "I'm not racist because I have black friends".

You are right - I read your initial post too fast.  Taken in a vacuum, this statement is IMO not necessarily racist, but simply a statement about current societal values.  My bad and my apologies.

In your original post, however, it was the "WGP is right" part that threw me off, because some of the things WGP said were quite racist, and I may have been confused about which of his posts you were referring to.

Yay for getting cought up on coloquialisms!

Reverse racism is when a minority does stuff to the majority.

Its reversed because the rolls are reversed, because normaly, the majority like to gang up on the minority.

When i use to the term minority and majority, im being a little deceptive, it has nothing to do with numbers, it has more to do with people that are different from a certain type.

For instance, a striped population wont like the polka dotted people, they will thing the polka dotted people are dumb, slow and lazy ect ect. Their dots make it so they cant learn as quick as the stripped population... blah blkah blah.

Racism is racism.  Reversed, foreward or sideways, it is all just racism.

I'll be the first one to say, I'm incredibly racist - that's not the argument.

2 words about your situation; affirmative action.

Society feels so bad for the stint of slavery, that rather than try to move on, they force the white majority to lay down for the blacks to walk all over them. This isn't something that should be highly contraversial, this is something everyone should have observed by now.

A white guy gets high, leads cops on a high speed chase through residential areas, and then attacks the officers, leading to that man being beaten the hell down, and the world keeps spinning.

A black man on the other hand, wow, what racist police officers! Let's sue the gov't, the police force, the schools for promoting this racism, lets jail the officers, charge em with whatever we can.

Because of this, everyone has to be so incredibly careful on how they approach minorities.

If she had confronted the kid about his shirt, and he had pursued the matter, there would be huge debates and public outcries about how "He was raised in poverty, that makes it ok!!! Violence is all he knows in his life, so we must allow him to express it!". In other words, if he was determined to do so, he could have cost her her job, and she knows that. It's happened before (not this exact situation, to my knowledge at least).

Or not.

These things get resolved all the time without incident.

Sometimes =/= Always
Might Happen =/= Will Happen
Happened Before =/= Will Happen Every Time

Exactly, more often than not, the kid screams racism and the parents themselves smack him in the head and call him an idiot.

People can scream racism all they want, but if there is no, like clark says, beef to it, rarely will anything happen.

I just thought of something. If you want someone to take you seriously, why in the world would you start out by telling everyone you are racist. That kind of like saying.

*Edit*

"Just a minute everyone! I have something i need to say! Wait, hold on, let me get my KKK outfit on!"

I had the most excellent thought while my professor rambled on in class tonight. I have a theory of why some men like baggy jeans and others dont like them or see a need for them. I happen to be a fan of baggy jeans unless I am out on the powl and like to excentuate certain features.

If you ever have to say "I'm not racist but..." or "I'm not racist I have black friends..." at the begining of a sentence, you are a racist.

^ Which is why I started my post the way I did, no need to dance around the subject.

And Clark, I said "If the kid was determined to do so", trying to emphasize that it wont always happen, but it has happened enough that many people are wary of it. Even if his parents told him he was an idiot and smacked him, he might not have stopped there. There's always a sympathetic ear, and in these situations, there's always a thousand protesters ready for a minor discrepancy.

See, Xero, that's simply false.  As a matter of FACT, thousands of lawsuits for race discrimination in employment and public life get tossed from court or defeated in court every year.

Complaints are raised and overruled all the time.

You may of course believe whatever you like, but as a simple matter of FACT, to claim that a charge of racism always (or even most of the time) leads to somebody getting fired, or paying money, is simply FALSE.

Ok now im totaly confused but I do agree that it was wrong to have you change your shirt it was simply supporting or military and if you dont agree then tuff. The 1st amendment allows you the rights to say whatever you want or in your case say it in shirt form. but yes most of my family lives in the most racist states out there like mississippi louissiana and texas but I on the other hand live here in Illinois and sometimes I cant belive some of the racsist comment they say. Yet at other times I myself almost feel like saying something along the lines of what they said. I dont considder myself racist more like prejudice simply because I have only really heread the southern white voice which I do want to hear the southern black voice at the same time. This is all before I make my final conclussion of the matter.

It doesnt have anything to do with race as far as southern dialects go. It has to do with social class.

Uperclass southern will say theater very softly. "Theatah" with no real pause anywhere.

A lowerclass southerner will say something like "Thee-ate-er" with three distinct pauses.

They could be taken as racist I guess.  But to whale and you, keep in mind that what I said was from my personal observations, from what I have seen and what I know.  That does not mean I am talking about all black people, just the majority I have seen.

Oh I seriously do have that shirt (pretty old though).  I would never wear it to school though because the same situation as my first post would have happened.

The funny thing is that WGP somehow thinks that this makes him LESS racist, rather than MORE racist.

Ive had teachers tell me to take my shirts off because they would say "swift silent deadly" for the Marine Recon. some had knives some had other stuff that was totally violent. just tell them how it is. the military saves our lives. so i support them and this is how i support them. worked for me.
