This is the Tippmann 98C that was nearly turned into a scenario gun a while back..Untill I played speedball. I now will be owning a 2k5 Autococker in about 2 weeks. I milled the crap outta this thing with a dremmel and an angle grinder. I put on a top cocking mod, but it fire's fully auto with no end because I milled the sear catch too long (makes for a softer trigger) So the top is exposed. I like that look though, if I could fix it I wouldn't. It wastes only 5% more air because it puffs when it resets the bolt. I'm getting stickers made for the side were the Tippmann was written on because it's a tad rippled.
Mods include some custom trigger softening, Quantim loader, 16" Progressive, and the obvious milling at GM green paint...Works great at the feild...raised the bar of how fast it shoots...Well over 4 BPS if you play your cards right....I'll post pictures iof the Autococker later this month...It'll have a freak barrel system and a new high pressure HPA tank and reg off the bat. that a cool gun is a 98 with $500 worth of ups on it. some people

anyone else notice that most of the people flaming his gun have a low post count? The color looks horrid, and the milling is sloppy, but i love the milling in front of the rear sight. I give you a 10/10 for effort. Now, buy new recivers and use those to practice on. Use the new ones for your finished product. I want to see it with cleaner milling and a nicer color. I think your onto something with the milling in front of the rear sight. ------------- X |

Thanks alot you guys. The milling is sloppy on the one side, the other side is not as noticeable. I started on the "Tippmann writing" side and I did a horrible job. But as I got used to it, it was ALOT better...I'll get pictures of the other side. The top cocking mod was a bad, bad Idea, Worked for a bit untill my sear catch started slipping into fully auto...I'll be ordering in a new body and bolt later on this month, and milling the body more carefully, and more hand sanding...I didn;t liek the look before..The red dot never lined up (I DO know how to zero in sights) it was slow shooting, and bulky... I'll probably be cutting the fore grip on the next body off, or leaving it on...No in-between... And getting a 6 stage X-chamber. I'm not too too crazy about the gun, since I'm getting that 2k5 Prostock later on this month...I just want a backup for crappy weather...But I want it too look nice. I'll post pictures of the new body later on, without using an angle grinder and a dremmel...Just sandpaper on a dremmel and high grit wet sand paper.And I think I will either use the same green, or get a nice shade of red...The green is a GM Corvette green....We have a 'Vette in town the same color, and I fell in love with it. Edit: Oh yeah, with the front of the rear sight...On the new body, I'll be doing the same thing...But I wont expose the bolt to try another top cocking mod...Just enough so the sight is milled and you have that crazy "dip" in the back of the marker. It's 2" or so long and about 1/2" deep.....I'll be milling it about 3" long and 1/4" deep, with a dremmel, no angle grinding....The angle grinder made for the sloppyness....And I found the PERFECT red for it -------------

my god you people are assholes, sorry not all of you but most of you. I'm new at doing milling and painting and all that crap and i can tell you its hard, i bet most of you flamming him has never tried any of the things hes trying to do. Ill also give you 10/10 for effort as well.
My opinion doesnt matter, its what you think and feel about the marker you use. If you want my opinion id give it a 4/10. As suggestions i would say look for a different color, but if you like it... keep it. Also i would try to cut more of that front grip off. I would also test out some ways to smooth the mid section of the gun. While cutting up some other guns of mine i found sand paper and steal wool help me out quite abit. Experiment. It takes time to make your stuff look nice and smooth, and your on your way to doing that. Just dont give up. Like I said...It's rippled from the angle grinder...Next time it's all sand paper and no angle grinder....Tippmann hasn't contacted me yet about selling me a new body / bolt yet....So I may just get the new body and an e-bolt or some crap...Nothing too good because I'm getting that Cocker soon. Here's the other side of the gun..I didn;t use the angle grinder much...You can tell a huge difference...Sandpaper is slow, but accurate....The grider rapes holes on your body.
Yeah..no more angle grinder...Next mill will be ALOT better, and smoother now that I got the hang of it....No top cockign mod though, don't wanna ruin another bolt.
Edit: Yeah, the TY is my girlfriends..im 19, not into stuffies. -------------

The color is not to my liking and you did fudge up the milling.
Though through trial and error you'll figure out what has to take place. Milling is tricky especially if you are inexperienced. Valient effort. |

Once again, I really like your gun and I remember that under the where you buy section of the Tippmann website there was one site you could buy new reciever halves. THe thing is I really just can't remember which one I checked a few before I posted and I couldn't find it I believe they were $35 per halve so well I guess there is a price for you. regardless of your post count, someone could have been playing for years and then decide to forum. Post count is not a good way to determine the validity of someone's post. I think the original poster has done a good job being objective about everybodies opinions. For example I shared my two cents-I think the gun was destroyed. I would have paid him $300.00 cash for a gun like that (or more), and then he could've gone and bought a new speed ball gun. Anyway, I still think brothers gun should be burned in the fires of hell and then recycled into the one thing that is worthy of it's material-toilet flush handles. |

I SAID MOST OF THE TIME!!!! ok, now that i got that out of the way, sorry if i was being a bit of a anal-swab. i just thought people where ganging up on him WAY too much. he tried to make a cool design, and he just got flamed to the depths of hell. i hate it when that happens to people who have put in alot of effort in their marker, even if it is a crappy job. People wern't being supportive at all. That's what led me to belive them to be newbs. I notice a pattern in this forum. Whenever someone with a 1000+ post count post a comment, the new people follow them and the posts get out of hand. This might be a coincidence, but i doubt it.
