What are the differences between the older tippman 98 and the tippman 98 custom?

Is it worth paying $25 more for the 98 custom?

Custom is more easily customizable.

Old M98 has cool gills.

The only real difference is that the grip frame is milled differently on the 2, and the trigger and sear setups are different. I'd just go for the 98c. Then you don't have to worry about anything if you go to get something like the r/t.

They are both pretty much Identical, except new pieces are more common, but I love my 98Custom.

They're basically the same gun, just with a few add-ons already there. I think a drop forward is a waste. Maybe just an inch or two is ok, but some make the drop like 10in.

To save yourself some time, just get the custom pro. That way you don't have to worry about what upgrades you can and can't get. It can take just about anything.

Differences: Model 98 has gills on the side. The trigger guard is not removable, therefore, you cannot get a double trigger. The trigger and sear spring set up is different. The ASA uses a 90* hose adaptor. The feedneck has a set of little teeth to lock the hopper in.
