So I just got my C3. First on the block. Crappy pictures courtesy of my camera. Better pictures/video/review will follow.
First thoughts - this thing is so cool. Makes a little buzzing noise when you pull the trigger, kind of like your grill auto-lighter... :)
The feedneck is REALLY far back - almost like an Alien. When they get the semi figured out, this thing will be really short.
Anyway, there it is:

Anybody who plays at BFG should stop by - I'll be there sometime soon with my C3, getting killed by the faster guns but looking cool dying.

1) What is the seriel # for the one you got, must be pretty low, and
2) Can I get a pic of you holding it with your hand in it? It looks kinda top-heavy and large...

The barrel is integral (as far as I can tell), and doesn't come off. It is not metal, but some kind of composite. The whole thing is VERY light, particularly given its apparent bulk. Given how light propane tanks are (the small ones), this thing will be easy on the arms to carry around.
I don't know how the bolt works - or anything else for that matter - as I haven't opened it up yet. And I won't until I at least shoot it. But I will post internal pictures as well.
I buy all my propane and propane accessories from Strickland Propane.

It is somewhat tall - the barrel basically sits on top of the combustion chamber. It doesn't FEEL tall, though, if that makes any sense. Not like an Impulse, where you feel like it's going to topple.
But hey - my new gun has a combustion chamber. :D

rambino from what i understand its a bore drop gun. it uses barrels like the automag... AGD found it to be silly and inefficant and swiched to cocker threads.
also looking at the owners manual it sounds like the gun gets hot... careful with that. keep some 12 grams handy or a small tank with a remoat incase you need to cool it off in a hurry.

Thats how they could do the semi, not a pure propane, but a prop. c02
hybrid!, after every 5 or so shots, it fills empty spaces around the
chamber and barrel with c02 to cool it off.

I was thinking that as well - you could use a 16oz propane tank for propellant, and then have a 20oz CO2 tank for liquid coolant.

I'll have to check the specs for actual weight. Maybe it just balances well. But I actually think it looks really cool. Dunno how much pump I'll play, but this is definitely one of my cooler guns.
Any gun with heat sink fins is cool.
EDIT - just checked the weight: 3.75 pounds. Slightly more than a stock A-5 (I'm sure it weighs less than my overloaded A-5 though). Huh. It really does feel light to me. Go figure.

Wow... your ignorance amazes me. Nitrous Oxide is NOT flammable. Thats what the dentist gives you when he fills cavities. Think he would be pouring dangerous vapors into your lungs? No. The only reason you think it is flammable is because of the Fast and the Furious movies. They use Nitrous in cars because it sends extra oxygen into the cylinders which causes them to allow more fuel and greater combustion, therefore greater power.

hmmm its pretty tall i dont think i'd use a normal hopper (or even the small ones)... now a q-loader or something i might... yea its over kill but im thinkin' more about the size and profile.
now that i think about it i wish they would have made the gas line more like the one on the A-5, that way you could hook up a remote line, I've never seen a remote line that would go in the c3 the way it is now... but i dont know much about remote lines. also is there a reason its not vertfeed? the mod would be easy but can you think of a reason why they didnt do it in the first place? maybe to keep us thinking and occupied till they come out with something else... man i gotta get one of these and start tinkering with it... im probley going to kill myself doing it to lol
hey rambino with the ragulator removed is the bottom of the trigger flat? or like the A-5?
*edit*- after printing out the manuel it seems to me the feed wont hinder its proformance since a) its only firing at 4bps and b) there is a ball waiting while you shoot the ball in the barrel.

Guys, expanding propane itself is a coolant just like expanding CO2. Fact is that they make portable refrigerators that run off of tanks of propane. A shot of propane would cool almost as well as a shot of CO2.

so can the propane ignite from the chamber being to hot? or will every small burst of propane cool the chamber? will how long and how fast u do it make a diffrence? im just thinking that if you use this shooting 4bps (which is supposet to be the max) for a couple minutes that its possable for this thing to get a little to hot and have the propane explode prematurly, just about everyone (cant recall everysingle one) who has writin a review of this on pbreview has said that the chamber gets a little hot so im just wondering if it is possable. your thoughts?
|
Posted By: rednekk98

You'd need to get that thing pretty darn hot before it would prematuly ignite the propane( in a machinegun or rifle this is refered to as the round "cooking-off") If it's even theorectically possible, it isn't practically possible. Try looking up what the tempurature required to ignite propane is.

842 degrees...
Now that is a serious hand warmer.
|
Posted By: cadet_sergeant
Date Posted: 04 November 2005 at 10:23am
yes stealth from what i've read so far today is that it seems when propane is put into the chamber (30c in Az) that it will cool it down (but not more than it heats it up and thats why the chamber feels warm) and even if you shoot a full 16oz tank in 208.3 minutes (which i couldnt do and im sure no one here can) i dont think it could reach over 150 degrees.
i wonder if they can make the chamber longer and narrower, that will give the marker a lower profile (keep im mind i havent held one of these so im not 100% sure that making it longer will help it might just make it really long and not help it) maybe the chamber can be longer and be under the barrel (look kinda like this http://www.pbreview.com/pics/rebelvtl.jpg - http://www.pbreview.com/pics/rebelvtl.jpg ) and i think tippmann droped the ball in the barrel and should have givin this A-5 threading

LOL! The auto-ignition temp for propane is almost the same as it is for
wood!! I don't see pre-ignition being much of a problem since if
the marker got that hot you would be in danger of burning down the
forrest!
Just had to check, the melting point of aluminum is 1220.58 °F so at least your C3 wouldn't melt.

Can you take one more picture of your C3, your hand, and Shaq's shoe. We need to see how big your hand is in relationship to Shaq's 22s and the shoe in relationship to the C3. How can we tell you don't have girly hands, you are wearing a dress shirt. If you can't find one of Shaq's shoe you could stand it up end to end next to an average size three year old, only if its average size though. If you have any doubts, look for the shoe. Can you also put a new sign that says "Poopy is Punk".

It is somewhat tall - the barrel basically sits on top of the
combustion chamber. It doesn't FEEL tall, though, if that makes
any sense. Not like an Impulse, where you feel like it's going to
topple.
But hey - my new gun has a combustion chamber. :D |
Ugh. I hate my impulse. It's a brick. That thing looks bloody enormous, the C3 I mean.
