But i cant go till morning. So i come to T&O instead. The person who diagnoses me correctly through the few symptoms i have wins a prize.

Symptoms:

1. Coughing. Been going on for like a month now. Sometimes it gets pretty bad.

2. Runny/Stuffy nose. Been there for about as long as the cough has.

3. Chest pains and general soreness. Started yesterday. If i take in a deep breath my chest gets pretty tight. Also, i woke up yesterday and my back and arms were sore. May have just slept wrong but im not ruling out anything yet.

4. Tiredness. Im tired all the time. Probably from lack of sufficient sleep, but this could be what caused me to become sick in the first place.

So yeah, diagnose and stuff. Feel free to tell me im gonna die in a week, or call me a pansy cause im overreacting. Im going tomorrow morning to the infirmary on campus to get checked out. If i die before then, you guys can split up everything in my wallet equally amongst yourselves. And if i dont, i win.

I'm going with Tuberculosis on this one. Coughing, Chestpains, Runny nose...sounds like it. If it's not a Whooping Cough then it's either that or a bad cold. I've known colds to go on for about a month and a half and require medications like Amantadine. Normally that stuff is used for old people with Atlzeimers but it works for cold virus's in younger people. Only a PDD test will tell you if you have TB though, and a chest X-Ray will confirm that you have the actuall spreading capabilities if it reveals spots on your lungs.

Depending on where he lives, if first freeze has already happened (night weather below 35*F) Then it shouldn't be 'allergies' persay. Unless he has a bad dust allergy or a nasal infection which generally only happens when you breathe in lots of dust and would come with nose-bleeds.

Best thing to do NiQ is to have some soup, take some Nyquil even if you believe in it or not, and sleep like a cat. Wake up the next morning, and take some Dayquil and a glass of OJ. Lot's of vitamin C will help this out if it's just a cold. As for the pain, take Advil. Or, go to the doc and he'll perscribe you some bad-arse muscle relaxors if the pain is that bad.

Diaper rash... ok let me know

Is diaper rash causing severe pain with urination?

Is diaper rash causing an inability to urinate?

Posted By: Snipa69
Date Posted: 24 October 2005 at 10:29pm

.....Ok I feel compelled to give actuall answers...

No, Diaper rash will not cause severe pain with urination. If it hurts to do your thing in the bathroom, you have a urinary tract infection of some sort and you should go to the doc.

No, You will still be able to urinate just fine.

Diaper rash is just severe chaffing of the skin caused by improper application of diapers to anyone who wears them.

I appologize if I ruined the sarcasm of your joke but I can't help it.

Alright... Here's one

Occasionaly, and only occasionaly, I'm not sure what causes it. Sometimes, For no appearent reason inbetween my legs, Like where the two bones from my legs connect, Hurts a great deal, Almost like a strained muscle... It lasts for about 10-20 seconds, and it's hard for me to stand dureing this period.

Last occurence was incidently after I finished peeing.

Haha, bro, college. I <3 nyquil, and i <3 sleep, but i can NOT afford to sleep a lot tonight. I have a research project to write. Also, i just finished off a quart of orange juice in about 30 minutes. And an apple too. I already took some ibuprofen for my chest. Tomorrow morning im going straight to the health center, so no dayquil needed yet.

Maybe tomorrow night ill take some nyquil and pass out for a good 12 hours. Ill have to wait and see what the doc says.

My vote is flu.  Acheing, fatigue, and tightness in the chest are all common symptoms.  Check your tempurture to be sure.  Go find some sudafed for your nose and just try and take it easy.  Plenty of fluids and  vitamen C are also very good.

Eat more bananas. Sounds like you have a low potassium intake and it's affecting your legs (they take the most strain because we use them for so much). Assuming you are talking about the area that I think you are (lower to mid section of the calfs) unless you mean where your pheamur connects with the patella...in

Man, getting sick at college definitely sucked.

Doctor should set you straight, so whatever advice I give is probably wasted keystrokes, but...

For nighttime, NyQuil should do the job... otherwise, given you're suffering from running nose and most like post-nasal-drip... you're going to want an expectorant, NOT a cough-suppressant. You want to clear all that crap out of your chest... so rather than stop the cough, you want to make it more productive. When you start hocking up massive gobs of nasties with every cough... you're on the right track.
You also want to take care of the nasal mucus that's causing much of your misery. Pseudoephedrine HCl is what you want (Sudafed). The store brand works just as well (little red tablets). Nasal decongestants. They won't stop the running nose... but should slow/stop the post nasal and clogged feeling. Take that together with some Tussin PE (make sure it's the PE one) or Mucinex (expensive) (expectorants).
Lack of sleep/rest is definitely a problem. Your immune system needs it. And not just a mere 8hrs a night... I mean all day and night. Social life should be put on hold. Academics cut down to mere necessities (not advocating you miss a lot, as that digs a hole you may not be able to come back out of). You basically have to sacrifice everything in your life to get your health back... THEN you can be typical Joe-College-Student again.
Liquids. OJ is good. When you're not drinking OJ, drink water. Along with the rest, you need liquids to flush out your system.

And if none of that works... then it's my professional diagnosis that you have worms from not adequately microwaving that last burrito, and/or a fungal disease. Probably because you forgot to wear flip-flops and decided the shower in the dorm was safe for use with bare feet. Dude... I don't care how good you think the cleaning staff is... that's just nasty.

I like this guess the best so far. I'll bet my nickel on Dazed.

Posted By: Dazed

And I'll concur with Shorty on his treatment plan. Sudafed, TussinPE or Mucinex(I like mucinex better, seems to work faster for me, but it is very expensive for an over the counter drug), and a lot of rest will see you back on your feet.

But since I think you've already been to the doc at this point, or are about to, I'll bet you got about five days worth of antibiotics, and possibly a steriod shot, if they think your chest sounds bad enough.

The doc said that i have really swollen red mucus membrane in my nose, and that there is fluid behind my eardrums. Chest pain from the acidic mucus dripping down into my throat or something. She reccomended sudafed, long steamy showers and drinking 8oz of clear liquid an hour.

Also, i would like to sleep, but i have registration for classes tomorrow at 6AM, and so much work to do. I cant afford to sleep right now.

If that were the case, meaning he started with a sinus infection, there would have been aggressive pains behind his eyes and nose which he did not specify and definately would have had he had such symptoms because they are unbearable. That would also include his ears to pop quite frequently if it was bad enough to spread.

Sinusitis. It's caused when the inner sinuses, which normally fill with air, become filled with fluid. Then bacteria will grow and cause Sinusitis. NiQ, did your teeth hurt?
