i never understood the piercing of anything. even with girls. it confuses me why you would impale yourself in various places only to shove a piece of metal through it, and sometimes even in places no one ever sees. i dont have any body piercings (dont plan to in lifetime) but whenever i hear about getting your belly button pierced, i feel chills and my belly button feels wierd... WIERD.... ------------- A-5

I had mine done years ago. It hurt less than when you bite your tongue, and it only hurt for a moment. Then the endorphins kicked in and I got a little dizzy. I was prepared for much more pain, having had my nipples pierced nearly six years ago. I didn't do it for anybody but myself. I wanted to have the piercings done, and I like the way it looks. I've kept them all. A tattoo is forever (less and less so as technology becomes available), but I can take my piercings out whenever I'd like.
As far as infections and sanitation goes, I went to a professional, and I was satisfied that they were handling everything as well as they should. The instruments and jewelry were all autoclaved. The piercer wore surgical gloves after washing to the elbows. He had several thousand piercings to his credit. All contact points on my body were sanitized twice. The needles never even touched a tray, but were stuck into sterile gel on the tray. I handled the aftercare to the letter, cleaning with the specified materials and using Listerine whenever I ate or drank anything but water. I knew to look for and seek immediate help for any signs of infection. My piercings were far more sanitary than I live the rest of my life. I'm sure Spooky had his reasons for getting this done, and I'll never fault him for that. -------------

I have my ears peirced and did my eyebrow last night (I do all mine myself), my girlfriend got her tungue peirced about a week ago and I like it. I'm surprised yall said it didnt hurt, I considering getting it done. How strange is it eating or talking? -------------

It took a day or so for my swelling to go down, and in the meantime I sounded drunk. You have to eat soft foods that you don't have to really chew for the first 48 hours, and use Listerine every time you eat or drink anything but water. I've had mine for four years now, and I still bite it sometimes, but otherwise nobody can tell I've got it unless I show it to them.
I've got a barbell for my tongue that has a blacklight reactive pill on top. I don't wear it often because it's big and easy to bite, but it's fun from time to time. When I take out the barbell you can't even see the hole. Get this one done professionally. Pepprdog has a valid concern with infection. The tongue is difficult to pierce because there are many ways it can be done incorrectly. You can develop a slow hemmorage or infection pretty easily. I didn't mean to discount his concerns, but if it's handled well the risk is very small. -------------

I'm running out of things I'm willing to pierce. I don't want anything on my face, and I'm keeping it above the belt. I also don't want my belly button done. Actually, I guess that means I'm done. Three is enough for me anyway because I won't get one unless I've put lots of thought and I have to really want it. -------------

Sorry Spooky but I kinda agree with Mbro. I hope you got it for cosmetic reasons other than performance.
As for chicks with piercings in their mouths or outside, I personally think they are a waste. But a chick that knows what she is doing with no piercing, is a hell of a better deal. Just imagine for the past 4000 years mankind has gotten the same results with out the piercings and now all of a sudden in the past 10 years it is supposedly the cure all? Sounds fishy to me. -------------

Yeah. I have my tounge done right now.
Here are some tips that will help you A LOT. Your tounge is going to swell A LOT. Least the second time around, mine did, it was like, 3 times normal size, i had it re-peirced, it went through scar tissue so it bled a little more than normal. When you wake up first thing in the morning, brush your teeth and use mouth wash. It will make your tounge feel better. Trust me, and tonight and tomorow morning, its been like 24 hours since you got stuck, so cut the mouth wash by 50 percent with water. And keep cutting it in halves, so the second day its 1/4 mouth wash. Stay away from beer, milk, cheese and anything dairy. This stuff all has live cultures in it, and can infect your peircing. If you smoke, brush afterwords. For swelling i recomend a lunchtime diet of Ibupropen and slurpees, and those little cambel soup things. Stay away from the clam chowder, your going to eat it like you are used to, and stuff is going to bet stuck on your jewelry like crazy, so stick with like, tomato soup. You are going to get Lymph coming out of your peircing too. It sucks, it tastes bad and smells bad, its normal, dont worry about it. PM me if you have any questions. Usualy i have a doornocker or "slave ring" in my mouth. Beuty is in the eye of the beholder. I know a lot of girls that love it. Its great to mess with little kids that dont know what it is.
The other day i walked by a todler and started talking to her, she was feeling my face and pulling my hair and looking at me really intently. She stook her toung out at me, so i did the same, the look on her face was priceless. I'm thinking about it. My girlfriend said it would be cool and I've already got a tattoo on my forearm so like it's not gonna ruin my image. I also thought about one of those wide ear rings that go on the upper part of your ear and kind of hug it. I don't know what they're called. Possibly my labret or whatever that spot under my lower lip is called. Do you have to keep shaved when you get those? I want a couple more tats too but I'm poor... -------------  |

It wasnt about that with me. I have an oral fixation, i used to always have to have something in my mouth, be it a finger, a pen, a tooth pick, a paper clip, whatever. It was ruining my teeth.

Monkey, the first time i peirced my tounge, the time at dannies, i got so much flak at home, i just took it out the next day. The problem got serious a year later when my dentist yelled at me about chewing on things. And.. there were some other factors involved..  So i got it re peirced, there was more blood, i got a little dizzier. But it was fine other than that.
