I
just want to know what size the rail of a 98c flatline barrel is? Also,
if anyone knows, what are some scopes that work with it?

I recommend NOT using a scope. If you really want something to help you
aim, a red dot will be sufficient.

i wouldnt use a scope, unless your using it for spotting. if you get a red dot, do not buy one that is expensive. it will eventualy get busted in the field. get a cheaper one that can be replaced when it breaks. the rail should be a 3/8 dovetail?

i agree red dot sites are better because u can run and sight them on your target... if u practice enough with it that is

Okay
thanks alot for replies. Thats what I meant by scopes too, a red dot
scope. I was going to get this cheap one, an Adco Imp red dot sight. It
was the cheapest one so I want to get it but I wasn't sure it fit on my
gun.

DON'T USE SCOPES!!! YES THERE GOOD FOR ZOOMING IN AND STUFF BUT BARRELS AREN'T ACCURATE ENOUGHT TO HIT EXACTLY WHERE YOU WANT, AND IT GIVES YOU TUNNEL VISION, USE A REDSCOPE SIGHT IF YOU WANT A SIGHT

Just stay away from lazer point sights. They damage other players eyes.

Good luck seeing the red-dot at daytime. Scopes (if you plan to use them, fine for looks) and red-dots are very impractical, way too many variables on a paintball gun.
The Flatline rail is standard scope dovetail, same as on the top of your 98. But the plastic shroud/rail is very un-sturdy.

My personal opinion on the whole scope issue:
- Laser sights-generally useless
- Most aren't bright enough to be seen at any distance during the day
- The emitter however can give your position away
- Can cause eye damage if accidently flashed in someones eyes-I
read something a while back about "safe" lasers but I haven't seen
anything on that topic recently
- Magnifying scopes
- Useful in situations where you want to scout terrain ahead of you before moving through
- Generally not useful for any type of actual paintball engagement
- Usuage slows reaction time-might not be a factor in the rare
cases where you're close enough to shoot but your opponent doesn't know
you're there
- Usage can cause eliminations due to "tunnel vision"
- Red Dots-useful when used correctly
- Using with both eyes open avoids tunnel vision
- The ones with wider apertures make for quick target acquisition
- Very handy for getting first shots on target at longer ranges
For anyone that wants a red dot on their marker and doesn't want to
spend a lot of money I always recommend the Daisy Max View. It's
inexpensive and has a very large aiming area which makes it easy to
use. I'm not a fan of ADCOs because I like to sight my red dots in
so I'm shooting high at closer ranges (where I would just point and
shoot without aiming anyway most of the time) and the shots drop back
on target farther out. Most of the ADCOs I've tried will not
depress far enough to allow me to do this,

The forum software automatically edits profanity and vulgarity. It could do a better job with abbreviations.

They make see through scope caps. They are tough enough to take a ball impact...at least at 30 ft or so where I tested mine.

I have used all three types.
Laser sucked except when it was raining. It was pretty fun that one time. And we had someone use them against us in a night scenario. But you have to be shooting the distance you have the site set up for or you have to worry about ball drop. And then, it is like tracer fire, it works in both directions. Your using a laser, well I can see you, too.
Scope, just sucks period.
Red Dot site=best of the three. They are fairly decent for getting you relativly on target. Now you hear all these people talk how paintballs arent that accurate, but it gives you a point of reference. You aint gonna hit the little spot your ball is on, but if you have the right paint to barrel bore match and are shooting at the distance you have the site set for, you should be fairly on target.
I assume the 98 has the standard dove tail for the .22 rifles (dont know I dont own one, but my old Carbine was). If so, then I would get a cheap BB gun Red Dot site like the other gentleman said. The A5 however is the Weaver dove tail and is bigger than the standard. So you have to buy a more expensive site.

scopes = bad...use scopes only if you can't see far and don't wear your glasses on your feild. They create tunnel vision..they are paintBALLS...meaning spheres do not fly straight in the air reguardless...so why buy something to help you find that "spot" when the likley hood your gonna hit it, is low?

There would be no use for scopes because unless you have a great gun your paintball will not go where you have it set in the scope( the ball moves too much because of wind, the barrel, etc..)
