Well, I am stuck in the fine Newark International Airport, as my flight is delayed forever.

That's not new - what is new is the rather large of amount of women who have spontaneously broken into yoga exercises.  There is practically a yoga class running in the corner.

I don't recall spontaneous yoga during previous airport delays.

Haha. How long have you been in the airport? The longest I've ever been delayed is 28 hours, then the flight got entirely cancelled. Needless to say, I was extremely frustrated. But at least we got a half-price flight on the next plane.

Speaking of Europe, has anyone ever flown Air France? Talk about service. The coach class seats have personal television screens with about 10 different movies to listen to, you are giving a set of headphones, and various boardgames and other entertaining things. The seats almost recline, unlike most other planes. Really great service.

I no longer use my regular cell phone dialup - I now use Verizon BroadbandAccess.  WAY faster than dialup, and with my PC card I don't have to worry about my cell phone dying either.

No attractive ladies in spandex - strictly soccer moms and the occasional leftover hippie.

I have been in the airport about 5 hours now - not too bad, but my flight is leaving in another 5 hours at the earliest...  Longest I got delayed was in Paris (about 40 hours), but they put us up in a hotel and fed us, so that was marginally less sucky.

Air France sucks donkey, along with Delta and United.

Best airlines in the world, bar none, are Singapore Air and Malaysian Air.  No contest at all.  After them come other Asian airlines - Thai Air, Sri Lankan Air, Nippon Air, Cathay Pacific...  (but watch out for China Air)

Asian airlines > European airlines > US airlines  (although Virgin Atlantic is pretty good)

Singapore Air:

That 10-channel screen you were impressed with - Singapore had that 10 years ago.  Five years ago they went to 20+ channel video on demand, various videogames on demand (including multiplayer play among passengers).  Now they are phasing in internet access.

And that's all in coach - international first class has to be seen to be believed (Virgin Atlantic offers in-flight massages).

And the food on Singapore Air is actually good.  Seriously.  And, of course, the stewardesses:

Yes - they all look like that.  Every one.  And that's their uniform...  Malaysian is very similar.

I am in the Garden State only because the flight into Guardia was full.  I was in NYC and CT this weekend...   Sorry youmont...   :)

There are many different kinds of lawyerism - but that's all about what you do after law school.  There are no "majors" or anything like that, but some people like to load up on classes of a particular type.

I do corporate law - essentially, I negotiate and draft contracts for large companies.

Corporate/corporate litigation is the safest way to a reasonable living.  Most ambulance chasers are dirt poor.  But - the very wealthiest of all lawyers are all ambulance chasers.  The firm that was the main lawfirm for the plaintiffs in the tobacco litigation made something along the line of 100 million PER PARTNER in one year...

But that's a risky way to go.

The best airlines I've ever flown on are Turkish Air and Lufthansa.

United = Poop
Delta = Poop
Delta Song = Most comfortable I've ever been on an airplane
Spirit = Decent (good for price)
SAS = Good
Canadian = Good
U.S. = Decent

Continental = Super Poop
Every time I've flown with them (No other choice for the destination I needed to go) the flight has either been delayed for hours or cancelled. The one that was right on time was overbooked and some other guy and I were denied.

Coming back from drumcorps my second flight on a connection was cancelled (U.S. Air) but they made up for it by giving me a first class seat on a flight that was a while later.

Posted By: Rambino

Ambulance chasers span the full range of success, but on the average they don't do nearly as well as lawyers in larger firms.

Domestically, if I am going someplace where Midest flies, I won't go on any other airline.  The whole plane is first class...

These days, with FedEx, email, and conference calls, there isn't nearly as much travel as there used to be.  The occasional face-to-face negotiation or closing, but most of my travel is for trade conferences or marketing events.

Generally speaking, you don't need to be admitted to the bar other than the one where your office is located.  If you are going to appear in court in another state you need to appear "through" local counsel.

As a matter of practice, we usually hire local counsel to assist with local issues on business transactions, but that's just good practice, not legally required.

Singapore air is an absolute dream.  I love flying them and do so frequently.  Last time I flew with them I got bumped to Buisiness class and it was just incredible.  Food was served in China plates, the whole deal.  Malaysian airlines are also wonderful.  Cathay Pacific's not too bad but really pales in comparison to the afforementioned two.

Whereabouts in CT and NYC where you?  My two homes!

Not only do we fly the same airlines, Rambino, but you were also in my neck of the woods!  You're like my long lost brother!

How can anyone hate New York propper? I love that city. Granted im probably on a completley different side and burough. But still, i love that city. How it pulses and thrives, how it has a beat all its own. Like life, that city has a beat, a rythm. Its great. DC sleeps. Thats down home tally talk for a mixture of both i guess.

Basicaly, i can take my truck and get lost in the middle of noware and go fishing all day. Or get lost in the woods and go camping no problem, go to a barn party. Whatever, i like country life a lot.

But on the other side of the coin. There are cities that, once im there, i dont ever want to leave. And there are people that when im with them, i dont ever want to leave them there. That goes for the country and city.

I fly a lot I guess. When I was flying to italy I got stuck in amsterdam and poked around the netherlands for a bit. That was interesting.

Though when I got to rome it was way cooler. I didn't think i'd ever get to stand in the vatican. It was awesome to see St. Peter's Basilica.

The last time I went anywhere by plane was new Orleans in august. More domestic travel than international for me. I think the nicest airline I've flown on here is Jet Blue.

The picture of the Singapore stewardess is just a random google pic - no relation of mine (that I know of).

And New York - fun place to visit, briefly, but you could not pay me enough money to actually live there.  Ok, maybe you could, but it would be a very large number.  All the things I hate about cities are amplified to the max in NY.  And, of course, the people are the most parochial people on the planet.  That always annoys me.

I meant the baby. Unless you had a boy. Unless the baby thing was a prank altogether.

Sorry - I meant the baby too.  The infant baby.

And yes, I did have a baby boy.  He's 2 now, frighteningly enough.

Lol^. Has anyone ever been to the Czech Republic? I went there last summer for a family reunion, and they've got some beautiful cathedrals. I always marvel at the fact that all this stuff was built by hand.

Newark was pretty crappy when I went through there back in 1996.

I've flown once (round trip) in my entire life.

As of december 2006 I won't get stuck, I can just fly myself.

Minus gas and finding a small airport. Plus storage for a plane..

My favourite airline is Luthansa. They always give me good German cholcolate when I fly with them.

Yea, I won't really have a plane until I graduate college. But I garuntee it will go faster than any passenger plane.

How do you figure?

All jets will problably be piloted by robots by the time he's old enough to even join the air force, or the world will have ended.

The only time I've flown is when I went to Hawaii. My plane went from Jacksonville to Newark. We boarded the plan to Hawaii from Newark. I thought Newark was nice. Good food there to.

For those that are frightened by how quickly time flies, it isnt nearly as fast as you might think. It has only been a year and a few months since the Spawn of Rambino thread.

The one you all are thinking of was a big prank that Themovielife and I set up with him fathering Sarah Lynn on Fathers day '94. He did post a picture of his son shortly before that as well. But what I believe what most of you are thinking about was a good old fasioned prank.
