I'd give him the 4 cents that his old life and his old wrinkly skin was worth, then send him on his way.

"The lawsuit claims he suffered pain, humiliation and financial loss. It seeks $3 million."

pain? for sitting on a toilet seat? he must have been really constapated.

humiliation? It's called a pratical joke. No different than getting pantzed in your schools playground, or saranwrapping the toilet seat.

financial loss? Sure. It's not like he wasn't going to go home and sit on the couch watching tv. He's retired, so he doesn't work anymore.

"It's not about the money. I want my health back. I want to be back to normal," Dougherty said.

What was so tragic that his life is now abnormal? It's not like he got abducted by aliens or anything. And I highly doubt this event has cuased his health to go downhill.

"I want to make sure this doesn't happen to anybody ever, ever again."

And how's he going to do this? Inspect every toilet seat in N.America? This is actually a really good joke....think I might go do that now.

I don't know who the bigger idiot is.

The man involved... or the jury that awarded him.

Always a tough call. Do I despise the foagie who spilled McD's coffee in their lap while driving? Or the jury who actually thought they deserved money for such an asinine thing? I say both.

This guy isn't quite as bad... as his deal isn't due to his own negligence. But to blame the town visitor center for what happened to him and sue them is dumb.

At the end of the day, you and I essentially pay the cost of their idiocy. What a great country, where you can become rich for no reason other than the fact that you're a dolt.

But it is good to know that those "dolts" lose all their lawsuit money within the first year!

<p style="font-style: italic;">

The seat had to be unbolted by paramedics and ripped the skin off of his ass.

Hospital bills are expensive, regardless.

And I would think being stuck on a toilet seat naked in a homedepot would be rather embarassing..

I don't think Home Depot is to blame, because the injury would still be the same regardless of how long it took them to believe him. He said it took 15 minutes before somebody called an ambulance, it would have been the same injury if it had been 5 minutes. Now if that Home Depot had survelliance cameras to find the pranksters..
