Hi guys,

I have somehow buggered my valve on my C98. It is leaking from the front end (not the pin end). I think I have stuffed an O-Ring but cant see it as i'm not sure how to dis-assemble the valve. Does anyone have any clear instructions or pics on how to dis assemble the CVX valve so i can check. I heard something about a snap ring but i'm not sure

The Guy sort of got you started, but let's see if I can paint a clear word picture.

First remove the hose from the valve.

Then take a pencil and using the eraser end push the brass disk, in the front end if the valve, down inside the body of the valve.

When you get it down far enough that it starts across the hole from which you removed the hose, stick an Allen wrench into the hole to hold the disk there.

You can then remove the pencil.

The standard lock ring is called a circle ring, not a snap ring. It is sort of like the split key rings. With a good light and a small flat screw driver or the tip of a pocket knife blade pry the tip of the spring away from the grove in which it is coiled and up the side of the valve body.

With that tip free slide your tool underneath it and around the inside of the valve body to spring the ring out of the groove. Don't bend it.

After the ring is out, again depress the disk to remove the Allen wrench then slowly release the pressure to allow the valve's internal spring to push the disk out of the end of the valve body.

Inside there is a spring and the pin valve. Take everything out and wipe the inside well with a twist of paper towel that fits tight in the bore.

Make sure there is no lint left behind. Check the "O" ring in the edge of the brass disk for nicks or dirt. Clean it with out stretching it. Clean its groove and reinstall the "O" ring. Put a drop or two of oil in the valve bore and smear it around...Q-Tip is good here.

Inspect for lint. install the pin valve and spring. Push the disk back down the bore against the spring pressure. Insert the Allen wrench to hold it. Reinstall the circle ring (or replace it with a snap ring). Then with the pencil remove the Allen and let the disk slide back u against the circle ring. Punch it gently a couple of times with the eraser to make sure things are seated.

Your valve should now hold pressure. I usually connect mine to the hose and gas it up before reinstalling it into the marker shell to check for leaks.

Important that no lint or grain of sand or any other dirt gets between the "O" ring and the valve bore sidewall while re-assembling the valve.

Same goes for the pin valve seat. Clean and oiled for good function.
